Birthday: January 17th 2006 Likes: I love going to Petco...It's my favorite place, but I also like Walmart and mom says I'm weird because I love to go to the vets, but they have great treats there!! And they give me a lot when I go! Pet-Peeves: I don't like it when mom says I have to stay home when she goes somewhere. I don't like rats and I don't appreciate being called a punk and will get in your face and growl and bark if you call me that. I won't bite you...but I'll look really mean...LOL Favorite Toy: Rope Tug-o-war and the "Laser Light"!!! I also stand by the pool table so they can lay the pool stick on my head to line up the shot...I even freeze and hold my breath until they make the shot, then line up at the cue ball! Check out my video book.... Favorite Food: I get an all natural food called Blue Buffalo, but I love sundaes from McDonalds...hold the chocolate of course...and I will do anything and I mean ANYTHING...for a Scooby Snack! Don't care for Black Eyed Peas though... Favorite Walk: I like going to the park, I love to go fishing at the lake, but really anywhere...I'm not picky. I love Petco!! Everybody knows me there and one guy even gives me toys for free! But I passed my service dog test so now I can help mom wherever she goes. Best Tricks: My main job's carrying mom's breathing equipment in my backpack, but I also help carry in groceries, take out the trash, put dishes in the sink. I pick up anything my mom drops or asks me to give to her. I do alot of cool stuff. Mom says I'm really smart. Arrival Story: Hi, my name is Lisa and I have developed several serious health issues in the last few years that really made my quality of life suffer. But 4 years ago on January 17th, 2006...God sent me a Guardian Angel and we named him Capone. Because of his appearance, we get mixed reactions from people everywhere we go. Some great...and some people run the other way. You see...Capone is a 122 lb. Rottweiller/Pit Bull cross and can be very intimidating to look at and because of the reputation of both of these breeds, it's been a challenge at times to be treated the same way in public places as I would have, had Capone been born a Lab or Golden Retriever. He is however, very sociable, friendly and a big ham. He loves everybody. Capone was a result of a neighbors Pit Bull "Chico" scaling my fence and breeding with my German Rottie. We very quickly realized there was something special about Capone. He began picking up things in the yard and even in the house that were out of place and bringing them to me at 8 weeks old. By 4 months he realized that the remote could put on the Animal Planet so he would bring it to me and he will actually sit and watch an entire episode of Meercat Manor. (his favorite) I finally had to buy him his own TV. His capacity for learning was amazing and he continues to amaze us daily. I have COPD and a few other health conditions and I realized that he could help me with a lot of that. So about two years ago I started formally training him to assist me and he passed his service dog test and became certified this year. He helps me with so many things but his main job is to help carry things. Before on days when my COPD was so bad I'd be on breathing treatments 2 to 3 times a day, and I'd be stuck at home. Now...Capone carries portable breathing equipment and everything I would need that day in a special day-trip back-pack. I also have back problems and 2 hernias which limit my mobility and he helps me so much. He will pick up anything I ask him to and hand it to me. A lot of help at the grocery store for the things on the bottom shelves. He knows most household objects by name such as the car keys, remote, purse, medicine, phone etc. and will retrieve them for me when asked. He helps take out the trash...bring in groceries...and even takes my socks off at the end of the day. He also hogs the covers at night. He was truly a gift and I feel very blessed to share my life with this beautiful animal. We try to educate people wherever we go that these dogs are NOT just used for being guard dogs and that they are loving animals, eager to please their family members. Capone took his first breath in the palm of my hand and he will be with me when he takes his last. He is truly amazing and has enriched my life more than words can describe. We love him very much and I cannot imagine my life without him Bio: When Capone was small, we knew there was something special about him, but we had no idea of what we were getting ourselves into. He amazes us daily with his learning abilities and personality traits. I don't know what he'd do without cable. He mostly likes animal shows but for some strange reason will sit through the entire episode of Law and Order. Go figure.... Some things he just seems to know instinctivly, but some are more human instinct than animal...like seeing a piece of trash in the yard and picking it up and bringing it to me...he was never taught that. And then there is just everyday things that he does that we never taught him...he just started doing them on his own. He opens doors...I'll tell him to go let Ivy outside and he'll let her into the backyard...We have to keep the doors locked because sometimes he won't ask permission to go out...he'll just let himself out. So many things...too many to list...he's just an amazing animal. He leaves a lasting impression on everyone that meets him. Forums Motto: "It's All About The Scooby Snacks Baby!"
