Tigress/Leslie – Girl you know how much we love you guys. We miss you so much & wish you guys could live closer. I know how hard this was on you too. She was your baby first & will always be your baby. We are thankful that our moms are able to talk each day whether they are laughing or crying. You will never know how much it meant to mom to be able to call you after she left the vet’s office that day. As always you remain mom’s best friend in the world & always will be.
Samoa & Family - Thank you so much for all of your help & support. It was so nice to have someone there to talk to. Your friendship is treasured. Autumn, we thank you for the beautiful wings for Lexy. We know she is flying high & having fun!
Hazel Lucy – You & your mom are so wonderful. Words cannot express how much we loved the card you made for Lexy. It is still on mom’s computer desk where she can see Lexy’s beautiful face. We love you ladies.
Margo – Even with your busy schedule of noosin your ma, you were able to reach out to us. We know your ma kneads a lot of purrs too & we are purring like crazy for her. You ladies have a special place in our hearts.
Ambro – You are always there for us & we love you guys so much! I could not have found a sweeter boyfriend if I had tried. You & your mama are very special people to us.
This has been a difficult entry, but we really wanted you all to know how much your love & support has meant to us. Catster & Dogster are better places for having you all on here. May you all be blessed richly.

I'm going to let mom fill you in on what happened over the past few days, because I just saw the biggest squirrel I've ever seen & my Beagle nose is just begging to chase it! So I'm gonna scoot!
Hi everyfur, this is Dana, Lexy's mom.
I'm going to repost the diary entries I did from Lexy's catsisfur Oly's diary.
Feb 4th 9:18am
Every morning when Grandmom gets up she take Lexy out. Lexy is out there for usually about 10 minutes or until she barks letting us know she's ready to come back inside. She is always on a long leash so her Beagle nose can't lead her astray.
Well when Grandmom didn't hear any barking she went to check on her & found Lexy laying on the ground fairly unresponsive.
She came & got mom & they brought her in & mom started checking her over. She couldn't see where anything had bit her or anything she could see. But lexy was very unresponsive & had to be on the leash before she'd even attempt to move, with much coaxing from us.
She was extremely wobbly & fell. It really reminds mom of what happened a while back with her, when the vets didn't really know what was going on other than a very high fever.
Lexy was fine last night but this morning a total 360.
So mom was frantically calling the vet & she had forgotten that Wednesday is the vet we are now using day off. So she called the old vet & after 30 minutes of getting nothing but a busy signal she finally got through & told them what was going on & that she really needed to bring Lexy in.
The earliest they can get her in is 1:15 our time. So it's still a good 2 hours away!
Lexy is just laying in mom's room. She will look at us but her eyes are huge. Mom wondered if maybe Grandmom had dropped any of her morning pills & Lex may have found it. But Grandmom is certain she didn't.
So we don't know what it could be. Her tail is limp, her back legs act like she doesn't feel anything when you move them or touch them.
She can get up & move when she wants to. Like she did to move away from the heater, but she only goes a few steps & flops down again. Not really like her at all.
Her gums & tongue are whitish instead of pink & mom knows that is usually not good. Lexy did pee on herself a little & mom cleaned her up & Lexy didn't budge.
So we are very worried about Lexy so we are asking for purrs for her & that the vet can figure out what is going on.
We will update when mom finds more out at the vets.
Updated Feb 4 1:00pm
Mom just got back a little bit ago. It's not looking good.
We won't know for sure until the blood tests come back tomorrow.
When mom got Lexy out & carried her in to the vet's there was blood on mom's coat & she saw where Lexy had been a bit incontinent of urine & there was blood in it. Not a lot, just a few drops, but that's a few drops too many in mom's book.
The vet came in & said that she was in critical condition. He said she was extremely anemic & dehydrated. Mom felt horrible, she had noticed Lexy drinking a lot, but never noticed anything out of the ordinary until this morning.
He said that it's something that usually comes on over time but most people don't pick up on it until it gets critical. He said her heart & lungs sounded okay, even though she has been making a snoring type of sound all morning.
Lexy laid on the exam table with her back legs splayed out, mom thought it looked very uncomfortable & when Lex tried to scoot/crawl closer to mom she couldn't get her legs to function right.
The vet gave her 3 shots of Cortisone & 1 shot of Vitamin K. They shaved her neck & took the blood.
He told mom it could be 1 of 3 things. One is Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (this is the one of the three that we want it to be.) It is generally treated with Prednisone for the rest of her life.
The other two are either a bone marrow type of cancer or cancer of the spleen.
He told mom if it was either of the cancers her chances are not good & mom agreed. She, Grandmom & Uncle Jim had discussed a long time ago that if any of us ever got cancer that mom would be with us as we went to the Bridge.
They know a lot of people have the money to spend on a lot of medical alternatives like chemo & radiation & surgeries, we do not. More over they do not want any of us to suffer in pain. I know a lot of people may not agree with our decision, but we feel it's the right one for us.
However if it is not cancer & can be treated then by all means we will do everything we can to get Lexy better.
So we are purring & praying that it's the auto-immune disease & not cancer.
Lexy is staying at the vet's over night to receive IV fluids & care. Both mom & the vet felt she needed it. Mom knew she was not equipped to do something like that at home because she's never done it before. There are things she can do, that is just not one of them. Plus mom feels that Lexy is better off at the vet's in case anything should happen they will be right there.
Mom is supposed to call tomorrow around 1 pm to see how she is & get the test results. The vet has her number in case of an emergency though.
We want to thank all of you for your pmails & rosies for Lexy. It means so much to know that you all care & are there for us.
Lexy is only 8 and mom says that is just too young to go. So we have our paws crossed for the lesser of the 3.
We will update when we know anything else.
(((HUGS))) for you all.
Today's Feb 5th Entry 2:30pm
Lexy has crossed the Bridge.
Mom was with her when she crossed at about 1:oo this afternoon. It was not good.
**Oly & Lexy's mom here**
I got a call from Dr. Windler at 11 this morning letting me know Lexy's blood work was in & things did not look good.
Here are what her lab results were & what should be normal:
Red Blood Cell count was 3.3 He said it should be higher, but I didn't hear the number.
Hemoglobin: 7.9 - Should be 12 to 20.
PAC cells: 21% - Should be 34% to 50%
Her Glucose was very high as well at 360 - should be 125.
So he said that it looked like she was either diabetic or about to be. We had no idea. But he said it was secondary to her extreme anemia.
He said that it did show that her RBCs were trying to regenerate but were not having much luck. From what I understand the RBCs are what carries oxygen throughout the body, so it was like she was suffocating from within.
He said there was not much improvement & that her breathing was much heavier & harder. He said we could try her on Prednisone for a while, but most dogs he has seen in as critical condition as Lexy they would do okay while on the Prednisone, but once they came off of it they would crash & you don't get them back after that.
He said the Prednisone was not something she could take long term & at most it would be a month. I've known Greg for many years & have taken all my cats & dogs to him. I completely trust him as a vet & I value his honesty & opinion.
I point blank asked him, if Lexy was his dog what would he do. He did not hesitate when he said he would let her go.
This was something that I had already felt inside & upon hearing the results & that she was not doing better, I knew what our decision was. So I spoke with mom & Jim & they agreed it was best to let her go to the Bridge.
I am always the designated one in the family to be with them as they leave us. Honestly it's something that in a way brings comfort to me because I know our furry family members are not alone in their last moments & that someone who loves them is holding them.
So I got to the vets & they brought Lexy in & when I saw her I knew we were making the right decision. She was breathing very hard & loudly. She did look around some, but didn't really see me if you know what I mean.
I held her head in my hands & scratched her ears & talked to her & prayed over her & let her know it was okay to go. I told her, her dogsister Missy was waiting for her, as was Shamus & that now she'd be able to follow that Beagle nose of hers as far as she wanted & could roll in whatever she found. She loved to roll in things, I think it's a Beagle thing.
So Greg came in & gave her the shot in her IV & she was gone. About 30 seconds later she started bleeding from her nose. Now I've been with our other dog Missy & cat Shamus & others in the past as they've crossed & I've never had that happen.
I told Greg & we tried to clean it up but it was continuous. He said he wondered if she might have had a blood clot & that most likely her breathing so heavily was from her lungs being filled with blood.
He said she definitely had something wrong with her blood. We will never know exactly what was wrong with her but we know that now she is no longer in pain & is running & Aroooing all over Heaven.
Mom is taking it hard. She is the true dog person in the family while I am the cat person. But I love all the animals we have in the family & Lexy was quite the character when she felt good & we would play "chase" where I'd grab her paws & she'd jump & take off scoot-running all through the house & then jump back up on the couch & wait for me to grab her paws again.
I will miss her & I know mom & Jim will miss her too. There is another person who I know is having a very hard time today & that is Tigress's meowmy Leslie.
Lexy was Leslie's dog when she lived out here & when she moved back to Illinois then to Indiana she could not take Lexy so me & mom "adopted" her & she became ours.
When I called Leslie & told her everything that was going on she took it hard. Which was to be expected. I know she is hurting & I wish I could be there for her, but we live 9 hours apart from each other. We have been calling though.
So please send your purrs up for her as well as she is Lexy's first mommy. If you'd like to pmail her, Tigress' catster # is 420003.
I want to thank you all for the pmails & rosies & all the purrs & prayers that have been going up for Lexy & for us.
I know we always purr & pray for healing & I feel Lexy was healed. Sometimes the healing comes through death & not always through living & getting better. I know she is with the Lord & I know we will see her again.
Thank you all for caring about us & loving us, you'll never know how much all mean to us.
Bonks & Love,
Lexy, Oly & Dana

Well I just got back from the v-e-t-s. Not a lot has changed except my fever is higher than it was.
When Dr. Windler took it today it was 104.5, it had been 103 a few weeks ago.
So they drew some blood & gave me a shot of Gentocin & B12 and sent home some meds for mom to give me everyday.
I get a teaspoon of Benadryl a few times a day to help with my itching.
One tablet of Batril everyday, & half a tab of Deramaxx a day.
The bloodwork panel will include something called a Geriatric panel, and a bunch of other things. The v-e-t said mom needs to call tomorrow afternoon to see what the results are.
Thanks to everypup & kit that has been purring & woofing for me. Please keep them coming!
