Catfish isn't too sure about my coming in the house. Sometimes he takes a swipe at me, and I yelp. I'm just too sweet to fight back. After all, he's just a cat...probably doesn't know any better.

Likes:
My favorite thing is just to be with my adoptive Mom. I'm really a 'people dog'!

Pet-Peeves:
I don't like it when Catfish attacks me for coming in the house! His claws are sharp!!

Favorite Toy:
I love my tennis ball, especially when Mom and I play fetch in the yard. I now understand how to bring the ball back to her and drop it so she can throw it again.

Favorite Walk:
We have a creek behind our house. I love to wade in it and look for frogs!

Best Tricks:
Tricks? Oh, do you mean looking up with soft brown eyes and saying I love you, in doggy speak? I'm really good at that!

Arrival Story:
I adopted Holly from a shelter where she was scheduled to be put down the day after I found her photo on-line. I hurried down the next morning to meet her and another boxer. The first time I met her, she licked my fingers then rested her head on my leg and looked up at me with those brown eyes as if to say, 'Will you take me home?' She is named Holly because she was adopted the week before Christmas and came home just four days before Christmas. Of course, when I met Holly and her shelter pal, now called Bailey, I had to save them both. We thought Bailey was a boy, so I named him for George Bailey in 'It's a Wonderful Life'. We found out at the vet's during 'his' neutering, that 'he' is a 'she'! So both Holly and Bailey left the shelter just before Christmas for their new home. They walked right into their new yard, had a snack, then played a while before settling down for a nap. A few months later, friends of ours offered a wonderful home in the country, complete with children to play with, to Bailey. She's a much younger dog than Holly and needed youngsters to play with and lots of room to run. So Bailey's now living a happy country life, while we have our sweet Holly here with us.

Bio:
She's a sweet, calm dog with the prettiest brown eyes. She rode right beside me on the front seat heading home from the shelter. I think she would have preferred my lap, but she's definitely too big for that! Since we don't know Holly's real birthday, we're using her adoption day, December 19. It seems an appropriate choice to mark the beginning of her new life. Holly's such joy. She much prefers being indoors with me and follows me from room to room, sleeping by our bed at night. She does love the outdoors, though, and enjoys romps in the woods behind our house. Splashing in the creek is a particular favorite. Watch out for wet paws!

BLIND CAT RESCUE & SANCTUARY:
Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary was started to answer the need for a safe place for blind cats that were deemed unadoptable by regular shelters and were going to be killed just because they are blind. We are a registered non profit with the state of North Carolina. There are no paid employees, only volunteers, so all contributions go directly to the kitties. Rescue is about restoring hope and dignity to creatures for whom no one else cares about. We are but humble vessels to help these magnificent creatures find their forever homes. The responsibility is big but the returns on our emotional investment are greater. You cannot place a value on the look of contentment that comes when an animal is clean, exercised, warm, fed and safe for the first time in its life.
