Arrival Story: We discovered Safe Harbor Lab Rescue in Golden, CO after suddenly losing our previous lab, Boomer, of 8 years. Even though we still had our other dog Buffy (cocker spaniel) we realized we just couldn't be without a lab in our home. Jake first came from Grand Junction before Safe Harbor rescured him. He had an infected surgery incision and severe ear infections, but Safe Harbor nursed him back to perfect health. He was found as a stray dog and had lost the tip of one ear to frostbite. We can't imagine how anyone could abandon and abuse such a sweetie! Thanks to Safe Harbor we now have another lab in our family to love.
They are wonderful at finding new and permanent homes for abandoned labs.

Bio: I am an avid squirrel hunter. I can sit so very still for a long time in my back yard waiting for a squirrel to appear in a tree or on the fence top. Then watch me go into action! I actually think the squirrels like to play the game as well and tease me a lot by shaking their fluffy tails.
But I caught one once and brought my trophy to my Mom (she wasn't as excited as I was).
I also can't wait for my Mom's piano students to show up each afternoon. I know they say they come for a piano lesson, but I think they really come just to visit me.

Forums Motto: the great squirrel hunter

I have a serious case of cabin fever. My Mom trys to walk me whenever possible, but it's been really tough. We had so much snow and it keeps staying cold so the snow isn't melting like usual. We can't find constant dry pavement wherever we walk. I like really brisk walks, but my Mom keeps telling me to go slow over the ice and snow. I'm getting pretty good at understanding what "ICE" means when she says it but I don't like to hear it. We walked around a lake in a park one day and I really like that, but we had to keep slowing down for ice. I wish it would GO AWAY!

Wow, have the last few days been exciting! We got over 2 feet of snow and it's been a lot of fun running and jumping in it. Our daily morning walks with Mom have been rough though. Sometimes there's no sidewalk to walk on so we have to walk in the middle of the street. It's hard for me to run fast to where the squirrels are in the back yard trees since I have to get through 2 feet of snow. My older human sister and her husband finally got on a plane to come for Christmas and I'm having lots of fun with them. They think the snow is cool too.

This is my first Christmas with my new family and it is great! My Mom's piano students are bringing in present goodies for her this week and a lot of them are treats to eat. My Mom shared some caramel corn with me today.
I think I'm really gonna like this whole Christmas thing. I hear there are even presents for me to open. I've never got to open a present before. I can't wait. I'm so glad Mom adopted me!
