Arrival Story:
He was given to us by a friend who breeds Rhodesian Ridgebacks. He has a heart murmur, but you'd never know it given his consistent high energy level. The breeder who gave him to us said he needed lots and lots of attention--and yes, that pretty much says it all.
Bio:
Jake has had several visits to the vet due to his obsession with swallowing things that do not belong in doggy stomachs. A man's athletic sock, two scrunchies, and most recently, a HUGE and hard corn starch bone. The latter was able to pass without incident in his "product." He's a good dog and keeps Metria (who is 13) very young with lots and lots and lots of romping and play. If Jake were human, he'd be your average twelve-year-old middle-schooler. He'd probably be doing a lot of harmless pranks around campus--just to pass the time. I think he'd have detention a lot. He would definitely be on Ritalin and in some sort of class to learn how to manage his ADHD tendencies. I don't think the teachers would like him very much....but all the girls would think he was "to die for." UPDATE: We've known this since July of 2005, but Jake was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. After losing nearly 24 pounds, we said good bye to Jake today, May 11, 2006. He's gone on to wait for us at Rainbow Bridge.
