Being rescued from a high kill shelter
Her 1st owner moved & can't be located
Anything easily destroyed
Anything, anywhere, anytime
With her new Daddy
Sleeping on the couch
Goldie was found as a stray in Rutherfordton, NC & ended up in a rescue friendly, but high kill shelter. She looks almost exactly like Chester, the pup I adopted in July from SC. I couldn't get her worried, pleading expression out of my mind & arranged to pull her & find her a permanent home.
Update: She was adopted less than 24 hours after arriving in Richmond; she now lives happily with her Dad in Alexandria, VA. He can't imagine life without her and is so grateful he found her. When you're looking for a new friend, please consider adoption!
She's already spayed, heartworm negative and is wearing a collar with a current rabies tag. Her weight is good; she wasn't a stray for long. Her other shots are being taken care of, along with flea/tick prevention and deworming, if needed. She's a friendly, extremely cute girl who needs a new start in life. Goldie's a great size- about 40 pounds.

Goldie's Dad writes:
"The new kitty unfortunately died after about 10 days with us. She was sick when she first came to us and while I tried to get her strength up before I took her to the vet for a checkup, she couldn't/wouldn't eat and went just downhill. So sad, she had so much spirit and Goldie really took a liking to her. After the little one passed, I realized how much fun it was to have a cat in the house, not just for me but to keep Goldie company during the day so I started looking for another cat on Craigslist. I found a beautiful Siamese mix about 5 months old who I bought for $30 (well, that was the "adoption fee" which seemed very reasonable to me) on December 1st. I brought her home and while she disapperaed for 24 hours after I let her out of the cage into a strange environment (Goldies castle that is!), she has completely come out of her shell and after a month here, is getting along just great with Goldie. I took her to the vet where she got the full workup: rabies, FIV, feline leukemia, flea control, distemper, stool sample, deworming, etc, etc, and she came away with a clean bill of health and she is thriving here at Camp John. I don't want to say how much that cost; but that $30 "adoption fee" was just a drop in the bucket compared to the vet bill. This cat is very affectionate, very playful, curious, silly, crazy, and just a great all around cat. She doesn't like fish (go figure!) but loves chicken and will sit in the kitchen with Goldie and watch me make dinner, hoping that a little scrap will fall her way now and then. Because I keep the house pretty cold at night, both the cat and Goldie will often crawl under the covers with me at the same time and sleep snuggled up next to each other, next to/on top of me.
I am attaching a picture of her: her mom, who I met, is a purebred Siamese who got out one night and the rest is, well, history (this one will be getting spayed shortly). My kitty looks pretty much like a Siamese, but thankfully does not have those annoyingly loud vocalizations or those funky crossed eyes of the purebred Siamese.
Her name is, and please don't get mad at me because Bruce suggested it, is Monkey. I had actually thought of it before Bruce suggested it and it really fits her spirit and playfullness. I never thought that I could learn to love another cat after my little buddy Spot died so many years ago, but then again I used to think that I could never love another dog as much as I loved Bubba. As much as I loved my Bubba, I can not imagine ever having loved another dog as much as I love Goldie."
*Sigh* My first, sweet kitten died, but a Monkey came to comfort me... And she's too little to hog the covers, fortunately...
