I saw his picture (with another newfie mix, on the Petfinder's website a year and a half before I got him--they had wanted to adopt out both of them)... Almost two years later I had moved to Colorado and went to the Humane Society and there he was (by himself)....I know he has a black and white buddy out there somewhere...he's the best dog i've ever had....and great with kids...

Bio:
Had a very bad bout of pneumonia from kennel cough within 3 days of bringing him home from the shelter. The vet gave him a 50-50 chance....but he recovered and has been the epitome of devoted ever since....

RIP:
Hi all, Very sadly, my best dog Kofi had to be put to sleep yesterday. He was diagnosed with a condition a few months ago which made it very easy for him to aspirate, and therefore get pneumonia. He'd been on antibiotics several times but they just weren't working. So off we went to the vet (he actually went and stood by the car) early Sunday morning, where he got a pretty grim diagnosis. So, my friend Suzanne came and we put him to sleep. Everyone thought he was incredibly sweet (true). He didn't suffer, he just laid his head on my knee like usual. (and yesterday he was chasing rabbits and tennis balls). We buried him (with his tennis balls) at my friend Joan's property up on the Tesuque Mesa, so he has a grand view of the Sangre De Cristo mountains and lots of rabbits to chase. Thanks to everyone who loved him (and put up with his throwing up for 2 days everytime i left him with you). I hope everyone is as lucky with their dogs as I was. I'm happy he got to spend the last few years of his life off-leash and digging up gophers. LOve, in loving memory of the best dog a girl could have, Kofi, March 1997 - May 13 2007 Xand Or, as Lord Byron said of his dog, Strength without insolence, Courage without ferocity, And all the virtues of man/woman without his/her vices.
