Arrival Story:
We went to the pound to look at a different dog who ended up being too large for our needs. We saw Kenya sitting at the back of her cage, not making a sound. We both fell in love with her and took her outside to meet her. She bounced and yodeled and that was it, she was ours.

Bio:
As we learned, Kenya had been terribly mistreated, and had some bad health problems including an enlarged heart, heart murmur, allergies, and buckshot still lodged in her tiny body. (she had been adopted and returned to the pound several times, and had been there for six months)She was very timid and fearful, but she wanted to love and be loved, and with alot of time and love she came to trust and love us too. Everyone who met her, fell for her. She was special.... and I mean "special needs". She couldnt learn. It took three months for her to learn to sit. She tried hard to please, but she wasnt like other dogs. In fact, she was more catlike in the way she cleaned herself, moved around and slept. We had her for several wonderful years, but finally her anxiety became unmanageable even with medications and her quality of life was not balanced in her favor, so we put her to sleep here at home, and we will miss her forever. She was a sweet little spirit, but had such a hard beginning of her life. We worked to make her comfortable and happy and I think we did right by her. I hope one day to know for sure...
