Birthday: January 20th 1989 Likes: The girl dogs in the neighborhood Pet-Peeves: Other boy dogs on his property Favorite Toy: His little sister Bambi Loo. He would let her do anything to him. Favorite Food: Chicken, Ice Cream, Just about anything! He loved ice cream but would chomp down on it like everything else he ate. By the look on his face I knew that poor baby had brain freeze. Favorite Walk: Around the yard Best Tricks: He understood "Bear I have new tires" and he would do what all little good boy dogs do to tires. Arrival Story: My aunt was driving home from work and movement from a cracker box caught her attention. There was a tiny little fuzzy puppy in there trying to find something to eat. My aunt picked him up and took him home. She and my uncle fixed him a bed out on the porch and got him some food. They named him Bear. It was obvious he had a lot of chow in him and he had a lot of black spots on his tongue. His doctor believed that he was part chow and part lab. He looked more chow to me without the real strong chow features. Bio: Bear lived out on the porch for a while but it wasn't long before he moved into the house. With the sweet beautiful face he had he pretty much got what he wanted. One time he got out and was gone for a few days. My aunt and uncle looked for him day and night. One afternoon they looked out and he was "passed out" in the driveway. He came and ate and then slept for about two days. Well about 2 months later a girl dog that lived around the corner brought everyone of her puppies one at a time down to the house. Needless to say all the puppies looked like Bear in different colors! My aunt and uncle found out that the owner of the mother and moved and left her there! They took her and her babies in. My aunt and uncle were able to find homes for all but 2 of the babies. They kept the Mama and named the boy Snowball and the girl Sapphire.
Bear was a sweet dog that always stayed real calm. He would fight strange boy dogs that came on his property but would always let his sister Bambi do anything to him. Like all of our babies he got old and sick and began to have trouble walking and getting up. The doctor believed it was some neurological problem along with a heart problem. My aunt and I came home on Sunday, September 17 2006 and I noticed something was very different. My aunt and I agonized over what to do for over a month. We both knew what the right thing to do was but ... Finally on November 3, 2006 we got Bear in the car and took him to his wonderful and sweet doctor who sent him on to Rainbow Bridge in the backseat of my aunt's car. He didn't have to go into the doctor's office. We brought him back home and buried him on my aunt's land. He didn't stay at Rainbow Bridge long. He just stopped by to say hello and then go on to heaven with his daddy (my uncle).
Special Note: His daughter Sapphire was murdered by Menu Foods! My aunt fed her and her brother Snowball Ol' Roy Canned food. Suddenly a perfectly healthy dog became very ill on February 25, 2007 and was dead within12 hours! She is waiting at Rainbow Bridge for us. Another sad special note: Snowball went to the bridge on August 19, 2007. He will always be missed. Run free and play hard Snowball!
