Leave a bone for Montezuma Diego

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:

Monty loves the outdoors, petting, snuggling, and long walks. We fenced in about an acre and he has plenty of room to run and play out back. He seems to wish he could go up a tree like a squirrel.

Pavorati, the poodle has gradually become his best buddy. Monty loves to play with him, but Pavi has arthritis and isn't as energetic as Monty, who wants to play ALL of the time.

Favorite Toy:
His most favorite is a squeeky teddy. He seems to like it best when we are talking on the phone or trying to watch a special TV program.

Favorite Food:
Momma is finicky and only serves him dog food. He has had some skin issues this summer so we changed to a new, more nutritious food, which seems to agree with him so much better. But when he can get it peanut butter is his favorite treat.

Favorite Walk:
We go down the hill to the paved road and from there to the river. In good weather we walk 2-3 miles a day. He knows to sit when a car passes and heels very well.

Best Tricks:
Monty has settled down so much and is becoming much less aggressive about his food. He will sit and "wait" until I say OK before he digs into his food. He is so cute when he jumps in circles to be let outside.

Arrival Story:
An online medical journal told a story about how Xolos are hot and helpful to arthritis sufferers. So he traveled from Mexico, via San Diego, to Baltimore by plane: and then home by car. He was very wary and untrusting at first, but has grown to love us and is very affectionate and loyal now.

Monty recently passed puppy school with flying colors and has made good progress since then in other areas. He is very trainable and remembers most things. He has had some serious skin issues this summer, which may be typical of the breed. Gets along with his Greyhound cousins very well. We lost Monty's pal, Pavi on Aug. 12 and miss him so much. Monty has shown signs of loneliness and a bit of depression. Monty welcomed Lukie into our family in September. Luke is another Xolo and they get along so very well. The puppy is quite a bit smaller and Monty LOVES being alpha-dog. If I can capture a picture of them hugging I'll add it to the rest. SO CUTE TOGETHER.
