Arrival Story:
We were going to get a cat when we moved in together because our new apartment only allowed cats--no dogs. My husband had never had a pet as a child, and we went to the pound to see the kittens. Turns out he is VERY allergic to cats. So, 2 weeks before our wedding, we happened into a pet store and saw this poor tiny, SKINNY little puppy for sale. She was already 6 months old and NOBODY had wanted to buy her! As opposed to all of the other hyperactive, licking, barking, peeing, biting puppies, she played nicely and then curled up on my husbands lap to go to sleep. They offered a big price reduction, since she was already 6 months, so we bought her on the spot. For over a year we had to sneak Hali past the doorman and office of our apartment building in a little dog bag that looked like a gym bag. She was always sooo good! She NEVER made a peep in the bag. If we opened the closet that we kept the bag in, she would leap into it and wag her tail, as if to say "are we going outside now?". Although Hali didn't seem to think any of this was abnormal, it was very stressful for us, and we now live in an apartment building that allows both Hali and her brother Waldo to live there!

Bio:
Hali is the ruler of our roost! She is an Alpha female. Sometimes, we think that she thinks she is a boy--she tries to lift BOTH of her hind legs to pee on fire hydrants! This almost always topples her over! She also caught a MOUSE! We had a few mice in our apartment, and she stalked one for over a half hour until she caught and shook it to death. Although this was a VERY proud moment for Hali, her mommy was slightly horrified!
