Likes: Obi is obcessed with playing ball. Lately, he likes being pet behind the ears and on his back...like a massage.
Pet-Peeves: BEING TOLD NO!!! Not being paid attention to. Anyone passing by the house, whether it's a car or person, the vaccuum and SQUIRRELS!!
Favorite Toy: Anything he can rip apart. Loves canvas toys with stuffing & squeakies inside best. He'll tear it apart to get to the rubber squeaky, and then parade around with it sticking out of his mouth.
Favorite Food: Ever since Miss Frankie was put on a diet, I LIVE for Cheerios!! I also love natural peanut butter, bully sticks, any vegetable and graham crackers (though I found that out accidentally!)
Favorite Walk: The latest walk is down around the school yard and playing in their field. It's a huge space where he can just run like the maniac he is!!
Best Tricks: It's not really a trick, but he's figured out how to unzip things. He has gotten into couch cushions and our pillows. "Plays dead" when he doesn't want to do something. These aren't the "tricks" we'd prefer but indicates his intelligence.
Arrival Story: Was absolutely devastated after my family pet passed after almost 14 years of a very loved life. After the third day of no sleep and tears, I began looking. My husband really wanted a hunting dog and there was an English pointer that lived up the road from us named Luke that was an absolute sweetheart. Two weeks later, we drove almost 4 hours to western PA and met this wonderful family who raises pointers on a game perserve. They were planning on a late spring litter. Well....I kept calling them about once a month to find out if the mother was pregnant yet....the magic didn't happen until late March! The litter was born June 29th, 2005, and he was one of 13, some black and white, and some brown and white. We visited them again when the litter was about 4 weeks old. We had read up on how to properly choose a puppy. He did everything he was supposed to, but the clincher was that when the rest of the litter got bored and went inside, he stayed. When he finally went in, we called him by name and he came bouncing right out!! The day we picked him up to take him home, Obi was all boy. He was jumping down steps and even went right outside to potty. But as soon as we started to drive off, poor thing got carsick and threw up all over!! To this day, he still has motion sickness but is getting better with it.
Bio: I like to get into things that land me into trouble. Mommy had to seriously puppy-proof the house because I was so smart, I could get into everything! As a result of this, when I was about 6 months old, I unzipped Mommy's overnight bag, and ended up eating about 10 dosages of Ambien!! Luckily, Mommy saw what happened right away and we sped to the vet's so they could induce vomiting (not fun!). Now, Mommy doesn't keep ANYTHING on the floor unless it's furniture, not to mention that I wiped 10 years off her life from that incident!! Now, she vacuums constantly, sometimes more than twice a day. (I shed a LOT.) But anything that accidentally is left on the floor - magazines, receipts, Miss Frankie's wee wee pads...they're all fair game in my path!!! I am very loveable, in spite of my quirks. Now I have to compete for Mommy & Daddy's attention with my new little sister....
Forums Motto:
Mom's not sure what happened and it all was so quick she didn't have time for a heart attack. We were on our way to the park when a neighbor and their beagle were walking past and all of a sudden, the leash just slipped from around my neck and FELL COMPLETELY OFF. Luckily, I didn't go far b/c all I was interested in was smelling my new friend. Mom calmly walked over to us, holding Miss Frankie with one hand and quickly grabbed me around the collar and hooked me back up. The timing was right b/c the chubby beagle all of a sudden felt threatened or something and then let out a low growl which then prompted me to start barking. Mom pulled me away and we walked off the park, like it never happened. She certainly was thankful the other dog was there, otherwise, I probably would have run off and she would have been chasing me for hours since I love to make a game of it!! To defend myself, I have been listening so much better though, and it's been a long time since I've run off! All I need is a ball to chase and I'm good for hours. Too bad Daddy can't last as long as I can!
Here are the rules:
Because it’s Thanksgiving time, there is a change to the rules. Each player needs to tell seven special things they are thankful for. Tagged dogs must post the rules in their diary and their 7 things. Then choose 7 pups to tag and list their names. Let them know by pawmail or rosette that they have been tagged and to read your diary for the instructions on how to play.
Seven Things I’m Thankful For:
1. I am thankful my mom and daddy take me for walks everyday
2. I am thankful for my little sister Miss Frankie for keeping life fun
3. I am thankful for meeting so many great friends on Dogster
4. I am thankful for those who have adopted and gave a pup a forever home

Mom came home from the gym and running errands where I was fast asleep on my new cushy round bed. Before I knew it, she had me on the leash and in the car so quickly, I didn't have time to get carsick. But I wasn't happy when we pulled into the vet's office. I SO didn't want to go inside. I didn't have a choice though, and went in, very unenthusiastically. The vet and vet tech were very nice to me but I still didn't trust them because I knew they were going to prick me with something!! And I was right....I ended up getting a shot for distemper!! I was so OUTTA there after that. The vet kept gushing about how beautiful I was and what pretty teeth I have and how mellow I was for a pointer. I saw Mom roll her eyes at that one. She was kind of amused at my clingyness...since we all know I am NOT a cuddler. (She spared the vet on the things I get into and chew!) I lost my winter blubber of 4 lbs which they were thrilled about, not that I was overweight, but they declared I was perfect for my build at 53 lbs...so Mom is determined to keep it that way. I survived the 20 minute ride home in the car without barfing, came home, ate a snack and zonked out for the rest of the afternoon! Mom figured it was because of the shot, but no worries...I was back to my old crazy self by dinnertime!!!
