Arrival Story:
We adopted Calvin and Hobbes at 4 months old from a Border Colllie rescue group in North Dallas. My husband and I both work and we wanted them to have a companion while we were at our offices. Hobbes is extremely outgoing and wants to be the center of attention at all times - he is the one that got our attention. His brother is the more reserved of the two - unless it involves helping get Hobbes out of a jam.

Sheep?

I had to make an entry about my odd weekend. Mom and Dad took Calvin and I to a farm this weekend to meet sheep. Come to find out I am supposed to "work sheep" according to them. Something about my ancestry etc.

I am not so sure what "working sheep" means. I'm pretty sure that I am not really designed to "work" anything but a peanut butter filled Kong. The sheep didn't appear to want to be worked...so I pretty much ignored them and kept looking at Mom and Dad asking what the heck we were doing there. Mom even got into this ring thing with me and these three big sheep and was patting the sheep and everything...maybe she is supposed to "work" them. I wasn't really interested. The sheep seemed nice enough and everything, but I would have much rather been hanging out in the shade watching the other dogs run around and chase sheep.

Well, I guess it was fun. I heard lots of conversations about my "aptitude" for this type of thing. Dont' know what that means, but hopefully it means more time playing.

Calvin seemed to dislike the sheep a bit and chased them around the ring several times. They were telling him how good that was - weird cause they are usually telling him not to chase everything else that comes by. Very confusing day. Must be why I slept all the way home -- we were a long way away.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Lot's of stuff to do these days, not really sure there is much time for diary writing. But then a little self reflection should be good for the soul - at least that's the kind of warm and fuzzy garbage Calvin says all the time. Me, I just want to play and sleep and play some more.

I am glad we got rid of all the holiday company so that I have my fully trained humans back at my beck and call. They are so obedient, all I have to do is ask and I am let out, let in, let out, let in, taken for walks, fed, petted, belly-rubbed, etc... - life is GOOD. Enough writing, I think I need a nap before I tell Dad I need another trip through the neighborhood.

Lots of Sparkles

WhoooHoooo! Now there is this very large sparkly tall thing in the living room. Calvin and I watched Mom and Dad put it up on Saturday - it took them a while and Uncle Greg had to come over to get part of it downstairs. There are lights, big red ball things, and a big silver star on the top. Very cool, big and just a little scary. So far I've only gotten as close as about two feet from this thing, but I'm getting braver. Maybe those ball things are edible.
