   Leave a bone for Dexter

Dexy, Goofy, D-dog, Dextrose, Dextreme, little boy, big guy.

Quick Bio:
-pound dog

Hanging out at the dog park, play fighting with his buddy Buckley, and going to Dog Beach.

Being left alone. Having another dog between him and his bone.

Favorite Toy:
Bones, bones, more bones.

Favorite Food:
Bones, bones, did I mention bones? Raw-hide chews - he buries them for at least a week before they are ready for consumption.

Favorite Walk:
At the park across the street. He loves to search for baseballs after the little leaguers finish practice.

Best Tricks:
He is not a trickster kinda dog. He does the regular stuff, but mostly he just hangs out and acts like a person.

Arrival Story:
One Friday I went to the local animal shelter and there he was. He was only 8-months old and was dropped off anonymously in the middle of the night. He was one of those dogs you fall for immediately. I put my name down to hold him. Once the hold time was up I went to see him and knew immediately he was to be my dog.

Dexter had major surgery last June to remove a blockage from his intestines. Props go to Dr. Michael for doing such a great job on his surgery. He is completely healed now and is doing great. Apparently he swallowed a cover from a baseball. Rawhide. He loves the rawhide. But this particular baseball cover was plastic and he swallowed it whole. I still have the offending item in a plastic baggie (thanks again Dr. Michael!). Any ideas on what I should do with it? It really stinks! (okay -- after about two weeks I tossed it out -- so much for mementos!). Since his surgery he had grown very protective. Now if anything approaches the house he rushes out to defend our property. He never used to bark, now he has this very big dog bark. More of a woof!! really. His newest pal is a 9 month old French Bulldog named Jazzmine. She is all of 20 pounds and Dexter just passed 100 pounds, but she goes after him like they are equals. It is just a riot to see those two play. He is really a very gentle giant.
