This old guy isn't liking the heat

Yep, I'm with my brother on this one. I don't like the heat. Now that I'm getting older it seems to be effecting me a little more. Thank goodness ma put in the air conditioners. I like laying in front of the fan. That sure does feel good.

Mom came home a couple of weeks ago with some real bones for me to chew on. Gosh almighty were those delicious. I sat outside for hours just chewing away and havning a goold ol' time. Ma likes them cuz they clean my teeth pretty good. But she did mention I have to go in for some dental work in the next couple of months. Not sure how I feel about that.

Hope all my other pup pals out there are having a good summer so far and staying cool!

Can you hear me now?

Mom surprised us and came home early from work today. Boy was that a nice suprise. That was until we got to the dogter office. The car ride was the bomb since it was about 25 miles from our house. The weather was great too.

Mom brought me, Griffin and Grace all the vet at the same time. I told her she was a little nuts for trying it but she wouldn't hear it. Thankfully it all worked out. No fights at all. Whew!

I got to meet our new vet, well at least to me, and he was a nice chap. That was until he pulled that long looking thing out and tried to stick it in my ear. Oh boy, I was not having any of that. I started shaking and tried to hide under mom. That didn't work. Then mom had the nerve to tell me it was some sort of treat. Hey, mom, do you think I'm nuts? Well, my ears look good so the vet wasn't sure what was causing my one ear to itch so he gave mom some drops to put in just in case. Ick, don't like that at all. Then mom asked the vet to look in my eyes. I see just fine I told them but he just kept looking. Then he told mom that I have the begining of cataracts. Wait, stop right there. Did I hear someone say cats? Oh, no, we don't need anymore of those. We already have 4. Then they explained that this is a film that covers my eyes and over time it will get worse, but that's down the road (keeping paws crossed).

Last but not least I have to go back in a few months to have some toofers cleaned. Now I really hate that. Mom does her best with brushing but the vet told her that some dogs are more prone to bad toofers and I happen to be one.

Note to self: Next car ride better be to Dairy Queen or I'm staging a revolt

Clean Plate Club

Mom says I am a member of the clean plate club. I have never heard of it before so I'm not trusting her with this information. I think she just made it up so I would eat all my dinner. Mom has remarked on several ocassions that I eat my dinner fast and always like the bowl. Well I hate to break it to you mom but it would be against all the doggy rules out there if I left kibble in my bowl and it wasn't licked clean.

I am going to try to get on the computer today while mom is at work at Google "Clean Plate Club". There must be some information out there somewhere.

My little bro

Well my little brother is a diary pick of the day. He's running around with a big head today. I might have to knock him down a peg or two. No, just kidding. I love the little guy. I am proud of him.

Mom let us run free again today. We did such a good job last week and didn't destroy the house. Keeping my paws crossed she keeps it up.

Better run. There's someone walking by the house and I have to go bark at them.

Later!

Yep, it's a cold one

It's even too cold for a big guy like me out there today. I was outside for no more than 5 minutes and I was already doing the paw-paw dance. And a one, and a two......

Mom was outside too watching us and she quickly and I might add safely ran up the steps to let us in.

My brother, Griffin, just informed me that tomorrow morning it's going to be even colder than today. I'm about ready to move.

Stay toasty!

What an exciting day. I woke up and checked the computer, mom wasn't looking, and there on the front page was buddy Henry as Dog of the Day! Boy oh boy was I excited. Then I looked down a little more and there was Pita as Diary of the Day. Two of my pals were on the front page. What a great day!

Check them out when you can. They are great pups!

It's my birthday-kind of

Yep, today's the day, at least that what mom says. I'm a whole 9 years old. When mom adopted me I was about 4 months old so she figured my birthday was somewhere around today. She liked the number 8 and I agreed.

I can't say I feel much different than 8. I am shedding more and mom says she could hook up the vaccum and suck all the fur off of me. Not sure how I feel about that. She said she was kidding. I have more white on my chin and belly but that just makes me look distinquished.

It snowed here over the weekend and I LOVE snow. I ran all around the yard and made mom giggle. She told me that we are going to get 4 more inches today and she said that was because it was by sorth of birthday. Boy oh boy do I feel special.

Later,
Henry

New weight loss system

I have come up with a new way to shed those unwanted holiday pounds. Have your human groom you. Mom took me outside this past weekend and according to her "brushed the heck" out of my coat. There were big black tuffs of my fur all over the backyard. Mom said that she should try to market this new weight loss system, but only if she could get it to work for her. Little did she know, but I caught her brushing her hair several times that night. I have to ask her how it worked out for her.

Aging gracefully

As I approach my upcoming birthday I have been informed by my mom that I now have one white whisker adorning my face. Yep, only one and it's white. How embarrassing. I asked her if they make hair color for dogs. She assured me that it's okay and that things like this happen as one gets older. I then asked her why she colors her hair.
