In a galaxy far, far away, once lived a lonely German Shepard....okay, I'll stop digressing. It was about seven years ago when I was a wee pup, around 4 months I think, I was brought to this weird building with a lot of other dogs. I was all confused and not sure why I was there. All I know is that one day I was living with this family and their other dog and then, boom, here I was in this cage thing. I was not a happy camper. I guess I didn't like this other dog attacking me when I would try to go potty so I stopped going outside and started going inside. Well, wouldn't you? Who wants to be attacked everytime you have to tinkle and, you know, number two. Okay, so back to my story. There I was all alone in this cage thing and in walks these two humans, both girls, okay women. One went right up to my cage and the other went to look at the other dogs. This one woman really liked me and called to her other friend to come over. They both fell instantly in love with me so they asked to take me out of the cage to play with me. I just ate them right up. I could tell right away these gals were to be my new family. I was RIGHT! I went home with them that night. It took me a while to get the hang of going potty outside but they were really patient with me. Okay, they were REALLY patient with me. I was scared. A few months later one of the gals moved out and I went to live with the other gal. I missed the other one, but she came to visit me alot. My new place was great. I had it all to myself except for 4 cats. I don't mind cats actually. They are pretty cool.
Whew, feels like I'm writing a novel. Well, I am 8 years old so I have quite the story to tell. I lived with my mom and my four cats for about three years and then we moved into this great house. I got really lonely after leaving all my dog friends so mom decided to adopt me a brother. She came home with Griff one night and it was love at first sight. I tell ya, that little thing is a bundle of energy but he keeps this old guy on his toes. He loves to play with me and we always do everything together. Mom calls us two peas in a pod. I don't pretend to understand that at all. Humans, their weird. Life is good right now. I'm getting older and my belly is starting to turn white. I guess that's a good thing. I'm really laid back and nothing seems to bother me much. Mom likes to call me her Gentle Giant.

Yep, I'm with my brother on this one. I don't like the heat. Now that I'm getting older it seems to be effecting me a little more. Thank goodness ma put in the air conditioners. I like laying in front of the fan. That sure does feel good.
Mom came home a couple of weeks ago with some real bones for me to chew on. Gosh almighty were those delicious. I sat outside for hours just chewing away and havning a goold ol' time. Ma likes them cuz they clean my teeth pretty good. But she did mention I have to go in for some dental work in the next couple of months. Not sure how I feel about that.
Hope all my other pup pals out there are having a good summer so far and staying cool!

Mom surprised us and came home early from work today. Boy was that a nice suprise. That was until we got to the dogter office. The car ride was the bomb since it was about 25 miles from our house. The weather was great too.
Mom brought me, Griffin and Grace all the vet at the same time. I told her she was a little nuts for trying it but she wouldn't hear it. Thankfully it all worked out. No fights at all. Whew!
I got to meet our new vet, well at least to me, and he was a nice chap. That was until he pulled that long looking thing out and tried to stick it in my ear. Oh boy, I was not having any of that. I started shaking and tried to hide under mom. That didn't work. Then mom had the nerve to tell me it was some sort of treat. Hey, mom, do you think I'm nuts? Well, my ears look good so the vet wasn't sure what was causing my one ear to itch so he gave mom some drops to put in just in case. Ick, don't like that at all. Then mom asked the vet to look in my eyes. I see just fine I told them but he just kept looking. Then he told mom that I have the begining of cataracts. Wait, stop right there. Did I hear someone say cats? Oh, no, we don't need anymore of those. We already have 4. Then they explained that this is a film that covers my eyes and over time it will get worse, but that's down the road (keeping paws crossed).
Last but not least I have to go back in a few months to have some toofers cleaned. Now I really hate that. Mom does her best with brushing but the vet told her that some dogs are more prone to bad toofers and I happen to be one.
Note to self: Next car ride better be to Dairy Queen or I'm staging a revolt

Mom says I am a member of the clean plate club. I have never heard of it before so I'm not trusting her with this information. I think she just made it up so I would eat all my dinner. Mom has remarked on several ocassions that I eat my dinner fast and always like the bowl. Well I hate to break it to you mom but it would be against all the doggy rules out there if I left kibble in my bowl and it wasn't licked clean.
I am going to try to get on the computer today while mom is at work at Google "Clean Plate Club". There must be some information out there somewhere.
