Arrival Story:
Kuma was born in Vernon, BC. She is the adorable puppy of Dukhan's Tuxedo Man and Azami's Miyoshi. Kuma's CKC name is Azami's Kuma. The kennel she was born at is called Sunnybrae Kennels and her breeder was Marilyn McHallan. I drove to Vernon one weekend in June 2002 to meet the litter of dogs. They were all very cute. I wanted them all. Kuma was the one I liked the least, she was the biggest female and I was more interested in the smaller one, but she picked me. I brought a soft soccer ball with me, which she still has today. Kuma was the only dog that was interested in it. Then we put all the dogs in the pen and Kuma was the only dog that didn't seem to care about being in it. She tried to get the other pups to play, but all they wanted was out. I didn't want to drive all the way back to Richmond, B.C. after driving6.5 hours to Vernon. So I loaded Kuma into a small crate, seat belted her in, gave her the soft soccer ball, and drove 2 hours to Merrit and we stayed at her new grandma's house. She liked the soccer ball. It smelled like her brother and sisters. She was sad when we first left her family, but she was tired and quickly fell asleep. After spending the night in Merrit we continued on to Richmond. Kuma is a very happy dog. She has a little yard to play in, free run of the townhouse, walks every morning at the park and walks every evening at the beach.
