Arrival Story:
Travis was found living stray in the woods behind someone's barn. He was there with Wynona and their 7 pup, living in a hollowed out tree. He was not the friendliest dog in the world at that point in his life. Based on his condition, he was probably stray for most of his life.

Bio:
Travis is a turning out to be a great dog. He has learned to kennel on command, house train, and walk on a leash without pulling in just a few weeks. He gets along with most dogs and seems to be ok with our neighborhood outside cats. Travis is VERY heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment at this time. Once he is heartworm free he will be neutered. He will be ready for adoption around 1/07 depending on how his treatment goes. So far he has been responding well to the treatment. Travis' heartworm treatment is costing us $434.50. His shots and neuter are in addition to that! Please help us treat Travis and other heartworm positive dogs. Heartworm disease is PREVENTABLE!!! And the monthly preventive medicine is not expensive, at only about $7-10 depending on the size of the dog. DOGS CAN AND HAVE DIED FROM HEARTWORMS AND WHILE UNDERGOING TREATMENT!!! We hope Travis makes it thru ok and are doing everying in our power to care for him.
