Arrival Story:
After fostering the beloved and sweet Mambo for a few months I decided I was finally grown-up enough to raise a pup of my own. I searched on petfinder for a rescue puppy and found a litter in Yakima. Aries and Angel's dad drove me out there to look at the puppy choices, and Rascal was just as charming and adorable in real life as his web picture indicated. The right puppy at the right time!

Bio:
Rascal is the adorable-est. Rascal's mom is a German Shepherd and his dad is an English Springer Spaniel/Border Collie mix. Officially Rascal is an English Springer Spaniel/German Shepherd, but he looks far more like Border Collie than Springer Spaniel. His personality is still developing but so far he is PLAYFUL and very smart. Scary smart. I am starting to believe that people get the dog that they deserve, and the universe is chuckling that my pooch is smart, strong, energetic, funny, and will keep me on my toes! Also Rascal has a morning yawn like a baby velociraptor. Or how I imagine one might sound. I look at this dog and cannot imagine what I did to earn the karma to have him in my life. It has been six weeks and I can't remember life without him.

Swimming and Agility on the same day??

First mommy and auntie Jo led me into this .. . wet thing .. . which felt funny on my paws. Anyways we were at our usual park doing our usual playtime shenanigans when all of a sudden they took off those things on their feet and waded into this ... wet thing. I followed them and it was wet! And when I shook off I did not get any drier! Weird.

We played in the wet thing for a while, chasing balls and whatnot. Then we went on home. A usual day except for this "swimming" thing they kept getting excited about.

Then. Mommy came home from work and loaded me into the car. We drove a while and then we did some "agility" or whatever that is! There was a TUNNEL and a TIRE and a CLIMBIT and a OVER and a TABLE. It was FIVE new things to learn and I am exhausted. That's right, I said it - exhausted! I'm going to bed! Zzzzzzzzz (please to scritch my belly while I sleep) zzzzzzzz.

Another day at the dog park! W00t!

Mommy took me to Marymoor again today and I got to play with all kinds of dogs! I ran and chased and stole balls from other dogs and it was FUN! We only stayed for 2 1/2 hours, phooey! Mommy said it was COLD or something. Jeesh. Then that cold water fell from the sky again and after a few hours she grumbled and said it was time to go.

THEN. She brought me home and . .. I can't even say it. She made me take a BATH! Sigh. I *said* I could just lie down on her flannel sheets again and dry off, but NO. She made me get in the shower and the warm water fell on me for a while and she scrubbed me and she KNOWS I DO NOT LIKE IT.

I shook off most of the water all over the bathroom and then I rolled in the flannel sheets on our bed until I was mostly dry and they were mostly wet. I don't understand why she insists on this every month or so.

Then later mommy took us to our last day of basic obedience class and I mostly did what I was supposed to. I have to hold back a little, you know, to keep her guessing.

Now I am trying to nap but she keeps smooching all over my ears. What is that about? I know my ears are cute but the smooching! Oh, the smooching! Woof. I think I will make her take me outside again now that she put her jammies on, just for spite. Later I will take up the whole middle of the bed and see how far I can shove her off the bed while she sleeps. That is just how I roll, baby.

W00f!
