Arrival Story:
we spotted fred on www.petfinder.com. he was offered for adoption by rover rescue in aurora, illinois. when we called to inquire about him, we were told someone already planned to adopt him. however, we persisted, driving the almost 3-hours round-trip on a whim to visit him at his foster parents' house. if it was love at first sight, it was unidirectional. we thought he was adorable and sweet, but fred apparently thought we were threatening and untrustworthy. it turned out that fred, a rescue animal, had serious trust issues with everyone who crossed his path. however, his foster parents thought us more suitable adoptive parents than the other interested party -- who also drove long and wide to see him, but hadn't bothered to bring a check or a firm commitment -- so we took fred home with us. it was two full weeks before a still scared fred emerged from under our dining room table. trust was definitely hard-earned. however, we adore each other now, and it's just a matter of time before fred begins to trust other new people.

Bio:
fred is the sweetest animal we've ever met. however, because of his severe stranger anxiety, most people don't get to see this side of him. still, we're working to help him past his fears, because he is a truly loving animal who deserves to be shared with the world.
