Nicknames: Mags, Magpie, Miss Magdeline, Miss Maggie Mae, Maggie Underfoot, The Banshee
Birthday: June 18th 2002
Likes: I like running, playing with people, food, and licking. The beach, sailing, anything with water.
Pet-Peeves: The only food I will not eat is raw mushrooms. I hate being left behind when mom and dad leave the house, and sometimes I get upset about being left outside when they're in the house.
Favorite Toy: Most of my favorite toys do not last long enough to answer this question. Anything that squeaks (but they don't let me have 'em very often) and rope toys for tug.
Favorite Food: It's hard to say. I'm not very picky. Well, milkbones. And peanut butter. Mm, yeah, definitely peanut butter. Oh, and bacon. Wish I could get some bacon every now and then. Popcorn, chips, heck, I'll even eat lettuce, those little tomatoes, grapes...
Favorite Walk: I love going to the pond, the beach, and the dog park.
Best Tricks: I roll my R's like I'm speaking Spanish. I can sit and stay, but I quiver the whole time.
Arrival Story: A friend of my dad's adopted my sister, who looks just like me, from a litter of puppies that needed homes, and he brought Sissy by my dad's house on his way home. Dad was a goner on the spot. He and his friend drove right back out to pick me up.
Bio: I was born in Chocowinity, NC and am of Dalmatian-Pit Bull heritage, so my parents call me a Pitmatian. One thing's for sure - I'm never short on energy. Fleas drive me crazy. I roll my R's perfectly, so I may be Spanish.
My name is Maggie, and this is my first diary entry. I'll start by telling you a little bit about myself. I am a very affectionate dalmation mix, and I live in Wilmington, NC. I am a high energy dog, and I love to run. When we visit my grandparents, I get to run loose, and I like to show them how fast I can go at top speed.
My parents say they go somewhere called "work" during the day, and they act like it's not all that great. But I don't believe them. Every time I get in the car with them, we go somewhere fun, like the beach or the dog park. So whenever they leave me behind, I figure they're out having fun without me. It's okay, though, because I love getting to hang out with them when they come home.
My parents love boats, especially my dad, and I like going on boat rides with them. It took me a while to figure out what water is all about, though. The first time I went for a boat ride, I tried to walk right over the side! If dad hadn't been right there to pull me back, I would have been in for a big surprise. Another time I tried to jump to the dock while dad was docking the boat. We weren't quite close enough, and my back legs didn't make it. You should have seen the look on my face as I slid backwards into the water! Everybody helped to show me which way to swim to shore and then enjoyed a good laugh at my expense. I didn't care though; I shook myself dry and showed them how fast I can run.
A couple of months ago, I started scratching and chewing myself a lot, and I started to lose some patches of hair. One expensive visit to the vet later, we learned that I have become allergic to flea saliva. When they bite me, it just keeps itching and itching. All it takes is one flea to drive me crazy. So we are learning how to take extra steps to keep all the fleas out of the house and off of me.
Did I mention that they just LOVE me at the vet's office? One vet tech told my mom that I was her favorite new patient. I said, "Why, thank you. Lick."
I will keep thinking about some more stories to tell you about myself, and I look forward to reading yours!
