Arrival Story: We wanted a pal for our first rescue, Daphne, and saw Sophie on the Papillon Club of America website. We applied immediately along with some other people and won the dog! The first home visit owner would have kept her in a crate all day. The second one had a huge German Shepherd. We had Daphne who loved her and she loved Daphne. Also, she would go to work with us, so she is with her people all day and night.

Bio: We were told Sophie was found tied to a dumpster at age two and was turned over to Papillon Club of America Rescue. A nice man adopted her and trained her to the point wherein she became a multiple time obediance champion. She adored him and a few years later he found a girlfriend, became engaged and then married. Sophie was unhappy about this new female in the house taking over the #1 spot. She began peeing in the house. She was taken to the vet to see if she was ill and the vet said no, she was upset. He called it "spiteful" peeing. The new wife said "It's the dog or me", and fortunately for us, he chose the new bride. Sophie went back to PCAR, we saw her, and the rest is history. She has her second and permanent "forever home." Oh, and by the way, ..... she has NEVER peed in our house! Now, 7+ years later, our baby had lost most of her hearing, most of her vision, and arthritis was setting in. On New Years Eve, Dec. 31, 2011, she was chasing our youngest dog, when she had a siezure and a stroke. She lost ALL of her vision and was panicky. She cried and thrashed all the way to the emergency vet, which was an 1 hour ride. She went to join her sister Daphne at the rainbow bridge. We'll really miss her.
