Arrival Story: Ayla was a severely abused dog adopted from a shelter in southern California. She was starved and extremely fearful. Her new owner unfortunately did not have the time to work with Ayla, so Anatolian Rescue was contacted to find a new home. With the help of many volunteer drivers, Ayla was transported to my house. Luckily, she seemed to trust me right away. Although she had many fears -- fear of people, fear of cars, fear of the leash, fear of being kicked -- Ayla had not given up on life. She just needed a little time to learn to trust people again.

Bio: It has been wonderful to watch Ayla's rapid progress since she came to live with me in October 2006. With just a little encouragement, she has learned to happily jump into the car and be off to her next "adventure." Ayla knew many obedience commands but had been treated so harshly that she was afraid to obey. Now she proudly shows off her knowledge and hops up and down with excitement when I pick up her leash. Ayla adores her "big brother," Zrako, and they love to wrestle and play. Though Ayla is still shy, she is starting to make friends with more people. This was a dog who was abused and thrown away, but Ayla has a lot of love to give.
