Arrival Story: My roommate and I had been searching for a toy poodle for a couple of months. We finally heard about a private breeder that had a litter for sale. Originally intent on having a female, we went to the breeder's home and picked out a little girl. When I saw one of the puppies that had a very small black spot on his otherwise apricot fur, I was told by the breeder that this "flaw" would make the puppy less valuable, and that it was a boy anyway. I immediately put down the little girl I'd picked out and chose the little boy with the black spot on his fur, saying that the so called "flaw" just made him invaluable to ME. The breeder was a bit put off, but I couldn't stand the thought of this little fellow being looked at as "less valuable" because of a small spot on his fur. Bio: It was tough deciding on a name for the new pup....one of the original choices was "Scooby"...but I didn't feel that would fit a toy poodle...then came Stanley....and eventually Sammy. Sammy was eventually lengthened to Samuel, with Pierre added as a middle name, keeping with the French heritage! :-) When his official AKC papers arrived, I found that his name had been lengthened again, by the AKC people, to Samuel Pierre Jacques XXIII... SHEESH!! It's July already and I haven't had my summer haircut yet! I am beginning to think that my Daddy has forgotten that I'm due for one--I look so adorable when I have my hair trimmed close! Daddy says I look like a curly-haired rat, but I know he only says that in fun! My sister Miss Bigglesworth gets jealous when I come home after a haircut, but that's because she's a cat and cats never EVER look good!
Wow! I hadn't realized that it had been so long since I wrote anything here! So much has happened since the last time! My daddy has rearranged the bedroom that my "house" is in, so I've now got a much better view of the outside when daddy's at work..but that isn't always a good thing because we've had a lot of thunderstorms around here since summer began. I don't care too much for all of the noise and flashes of light when the storms hit! It doesn't help matters that my sister Miss Bigglesworth gets into a panic when the storms come. I have to calm her down and coax her out from under whatever bed she has crawled under! Cats are such chickens! :-)
I'm another year older too since my last entry..although I almost didn't make it to another year! The mean dog next door got out of his yard one day a few months ago and almost ate me! If my daddy hadn't been watching over me while I was outside, I would have been a goner for sure! My daddy made sure that the neighbors knew how upset he was and they have promised to be more careful about closing their gate! WHEW!! It's so nice to have a daddy that loves me that much!
Uh-oh! Daddy's coming, so I'd better go. He doesn't know that I can type this well! If he catches me, he might make me update his human blog!!
My daddy is going out of town for the weekend! What am I going to do??!! I've tried my best to convince him not to go...but he insists that he has to go and visit his aunt. I'm so upset! Who is going to play ball with me?? Yes, Chris will still be here, but it's just not the same...my daddy has so much fun throwing my ball and then hiding from me while I go to fetch it back. Of course Daddy can never hide very well from me because I always sniff him out!
I know I won't sleep very well tonight with my Daddy gone. I always have a hard time when he's not here...once I sat up nearly all night waiting for him to come home. I was exhausted the next day! My sister Miss Bigglesworth isn't making things any easier for me either. She insists that she is having a party while Daddy is gone...she has even threatened to lock me in my house once my daddy leaves today!! I know her...she'll try to trick me into going into my house and then she'll slam the door and lock it! I'll have to make sure that I don't fall for it this time! She's so devious!
I guess I'll write more once my daddy gets home and lets me back on the computer!
