A lovely day of life
In the breeze of the wind,
In the warmth of sunshine
Soon turned to a dramatic night
Heavy and full with pain and regret,
With knowledge of the incoming,
Inevitable, time of extinguishing
An energy which endured,
A love of pure loyalty,
A soul always with a genuine smile;
In a universe, you were
Of one beyond the limitations of unique.
Nothing imposed you - you gave or didn't,
But accepted with nobility,
Willing, wanting, to share the wisdom
Of those amber orbs,
If only I could understand.
However, what I do understand
Is what gives meaning to the way
We've defined that construct of -our- time.
We knew the worst, but what matters is
For us we knew the best:
The best of companionship
Of firm, faithful friendship,
Of exceeding loyal love,
And of times more priceless
Than can be put into words,
And to do so would diminish
A connection that created the best of me.
