Arrival Story:
Scout had a home at some point long ago, ended up at a sheltie rescue, then ended up at the humane society (the rescue wouldn't take him back), then got adopted by someone else, then ended up at North Central Spay and Neuter (a rescue). I heard about him and took him with the intention of placing him in my sister's home. He was acting aggressively during play with her dog, so she decided she could not keep him. I took him in and found he had a wealth of behavior problems. I decided his only options were euthanasia or staying with me. I didn't feel it would be responsible to place him in any other home. He was somewhat unpredictable, and he really wanted to eat my cats (he never succeeded in that quest). He was a difficult dog, but I grew to love him nonetheless. I think his deafness (and lack of any humans prior to me realizing this) contributed to his behavior issues. This past July his lymph nodes swelled up, he quit eating, and was vomiting. I took him in to the vet and found out he had cancer. He lived comfortably for a short time on steroid injections and anti-nausea injections. Suddenly, in August he quit eating and drinking and the injections no longer helped him. I had him euthanized here at my house. I did not want to see him suffer anymore. I was very sad. I miss him and his whacky behaviors.

Bio:
Scout was about 4 years old when he came to live with me. He was 7 when he died. I hope he knew he had a forever home finally with me.
