A Super Special Wedding Day for Special Friends!

Yesterday was a super special day and one that I was honored to be able to be a part of. My dearest, best friend Sassy and the love of her life, Rusty, were married!

It was a stunning ceremony!! All of the Bridesmaids dazzled eyes. Missy, Daisy, Lucy and Bernadette were decked out in gorgeous pink gowns and I, the Maid of Honor was in burgundy. The flowergirls, River and Annie, were just adorable in their little pink gowns as they sprinkled flower petals walking up the aisle during the entry procession.

The Groomsmen, Sammy, Shiloh, Rudy, Mickey and Best Man, George, were all dapper and debonair in their tuxedos/morning suits. Dusty, our resident puppycat, was the Ringbearer.

Ringo fficiated the ceremony and there was not a dry eye when he was done. The ceremony was just beyond beautiful!

The reception was fun, elegant and bountiful! There were so many guests from all over the world that it was hard to keep up with everything! Everypup and kitty ated and danced and mingled. Old friends visitied and new friends were made. Puppies tumbled and played with abandon, kept an eye on by some dear hovering angels who added just that special touch of joy to the day.

After hours the festivities the new Mr.& Mrs. Rusty Roo departed for their honeymoon to the French Alps.

Feel free to visit Sassy and Rusty's Wedding Group to see some of the stunning picx and just how wonderful everything was!!!

Big congrats to my dear friends,Sassy and Rusty!!!

My dearest friends Sassy and Rudy and Sugar and Hollidawg have 'Love Tagged' me!

It’s a new Dogster tag game – “You are Loved”!

You pick three Dogsters that you think are fantastic and tell a little about why! Don’t forget to let them know how much they are loved with a p-mail, star or a rosette!

I get to tag a bunch of friends which is great because I love so many and have the most wonderful friends! Some who have tagged me are gonna get tagged back cuz that's just how it is!! :D

So I am going to tag......

Sassy - she is my dearest, most wonderful, greatest friend in the world! From the very first time I saw her on Dogster I thought she was wonderful but once we got to be friends I knew how really wonderful she is! There is nothing she won't do for a friend but don't cross her!! BOL! And even better is that her mom and mine are also the dearest of friends. There is nothing they can't talk about or share, they laugh and cry and are always there for each other.

Rudy - OMD! What can I even say? Rudy is just the best, the greatest, the sweetest, most funny, dear and caring pup! He has been one of our dearest friends from the very beginning and I need my Rudy 'fix' everyday or my day just is not complete! I've watched Rudy grow from the cutest little puppy into quite the gentleman dog and he is just a pup that everypup loves!!! And I am Rudy's #1 Fan!! And my momma and his are wonderful great friends too and that makes it even more special too!

Daisy Mae - She is one of the sweetest most caring pups around, always there for anypup who needs her, give of her heart always and her momma is just wonderful too especially for anypup in need. We know we can always turn to her for advise that we can trust and believe in! And little Annie is just so adorable, love her antic and special ways!!

The Roo Crew - I had the greatest admiration for them from the first time I saw them and getting to know them and having the honor of being able to call them friends has shown me that they are even more wonderful then I ever imagined! Even through their tough times they are always there for pups for need a shoulder or a laugh or some love!

Sugar and Precious and Special - What a wonderful and loving and giving bunch!! They do so much for others and always have more love to give. They are sweet and funny and always brighten the day whenever they are around!

The Fabulous Conways! - Their name says it all - Fabulous!! Sweet and funny and loving.... and they give and give and give.... they are another bunch that I had so much admiration for from the first and getting to know them has shown me why they are so loved by so many!

Shiloh - OMD!! I just adore Shiloh! Always there with love and a hug and a beg for a munchie! BOL! You just can't see Shi and not smile at that face and those eyes! He's mostly quiet but this is one pup who if you know him you love him, just can't help yourself!!

River - Now this is another sweet precious pup who just makes me happy by just being around her! She's always a bright ray of sunshine in our day!

Got more to go.... but this is a good start..... check back to see the rest.... :D

With pretty weather and summer practically here, mommy thought she would post this in my dieary cuz this is one of the problems that daddy has a fit over! BOL!! He always laments how he used to have such a nice yard.... oh well.... Well, now he's got us and that nice yard is just a memory!!! BOL!!

Anyway, mommy gets this one newsletter from Drs Foster and Smith and found this info and thought she'd pass it along if any of you pups out there have pawrents who lament over their lawns too. She's going to tell daddy and see if it helps. We didn't post the stuff about different products that our hooman could give us to help this cuz as much as we love Fosters and Smith, if you want more info, you can always check them out... :)

Solutions for Urine Burns on Lawns
Drs. Foster & Smith Educational Staff

If you have a dog and a lawn then you've probably experienced the unsightly yellow spots caused from the urine killing the grass in your yard. These problems are more common in households with large female dogs with well-kept lawns. However, they can show up even in lawns where the weeds outnumber the grass and the neighbors sympathetically drop off "care packages" containing fertilizer and weed killer.

There are lots of old "theories" circulating about just what in the urine causes the killing off of your prized Bermuda grass. The most common of these misguided opinions is that the urine is acidic and 'burns' the grass. As a result, a host of home remedies have arisen including adding baking soda, tomato juice, or vitamin C to the diet. While these products rarely work once in a while, they do help but they work because they make the dog thirstier and they then drink more water and dilute the urine. The real culprit in urine burns is nitrogen.

Because dogs are carnivores and eat a high level of protein in their diet, they break the protein down and excrete it as nitrogen in the urine. The result is a killing of the grass from an overload of nitrogen. You will get the same kind of burn if you put a concentrated handful of fertilizer in one spot. These urine burns will often have a characteristic green ring around the outside edge where the urine was dilute enough to actually work as a fertilizer. This characteristic ring can also help distinguish urine burns from a grub infestation that will also create similarly looking brown spots.

There are a few things that make urine burns more prevalent:

1) Urine burns tend to be worse with female dogs because they squat and deposit their urine in one place.

2) They also are worse in large dogs because they deposit a larger quantity of urine.

3) They are worse on yards that are already fertilized regularly.

4) Grasses like bluegrass or Bermuda grass are much more sensitive to nitrogen than rye or fescue.

5) Lawns that are stressed from drought or disease, or those that are recently sodded or seeded are more susceptible to lawn burn.

6) And finally, they are always worse when your neighbor's dog goes on your yard.

So now that we are seeing spots what do we do to get rid of them?
Home remedies that help some of the time include:

1) Diluting the urine through increasing water consumption. Adding water to the food or adding non-salted broth to the drinking water may help. Canned food has a lot more water in it but it also has its drawbacks.

2) Feeding a high quality diet may also help since the protein is more digestible and there are fewer waste products.

3) Watering the yard daily helps in some cases but it may not be enough.

4) Backing off the fertilizer on your yard may help as well.

5) Try planting some tougher species like rye or fescue.

Top Ten Reason Your Dog is a Great Workout Partner!

April 6th 2007 4:11 am

The top ten reasons your dog is a great workout partner:

1. He or she is never late for a workout session. Chances are good that your dog lives with you and has a reasonably clear schedule. He will be ready to go at the drop of a hat (or the clip of a leash!).

2. Your dog will never try to weasel out of exercising. How many workout partners have you had who actually want to go for a run in a blizzard?

3. Your dog doesn't care what you're wearing or how much tuna salad or garlic you just ate. You can exercise and have fun with your dog without ever feeling self-conscious.

4. The enthusiasm of your dog is contagious. If you've ever watched your dog run full tilt around a field with wild eyes, tongue flapping around and a look of unbridled joy on her face, it's time to join her! Your dog will love the company!

5. Dogs thrive on exercise, just like people. Regular exercise makes both dogs and people happier, healthier and stronger.

6. Dogs doesn't waste time talking. They don't want to stop and chat in the middle of an exercise session. They don't care who said what to whom. At most, they just want to know who peed on what and when.

7. A dog doesn't need to change into it's exercise fur. They feature a multipurpose, all-weather coat that doesn't take 20 minutes to change into before they can start.

8. Dogs know the value of good, solid relaxation after exercise... and before exercise!

9. You don't need to buy the latest in fashionable exercise clothes, shoes, or equipment for your dog.

10. Running + dog + sudden rabbit sighting = TURBO BOOST!

Karen - age 7

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross."
Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."
Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.
Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,
"Nothing, I just helped him cry"
