Likes:
KC loves discovering and learning about bunnies! KC likes to shred any kind of paper and card board. He does not eat it, just likes to rip it. KC is a counter surfer and will lick all the plates in the sink clean given the opportunity.

Pet-Peeves:
KC is why the saying "Let sleeping dogs lie" was created. This guy gets grumpy if you enterupt his sleep. Spoiled? I think so!

Favorite Toy:
Compressed Raw Hide Bo-Bones; Kongs filled with peanut butter; his favorite thing is to rip and shred paper or cardboard to make a nest to curl up and lie in.

Favorite Food:
Chicken Jerky, Velveta and anything on a human plate (watch out!)

Favorite Walk:
the neighborhood and off leash dog park

Best Tricks:
Sing on command. He was trained to throw his head back and let out a loud howl. This is much better than the Siberian Husky Death Scream that he was making.

Arrival Story:
KC was a foster dog. He was surrendered to an all breed rescue in the Twin Cities (MN). His family no longer wanted him. After having this snuggler for two months, I decided to permanently adopt him! Actually, he knew all along that he was home when he walked in the door. Earlier in 2006, I had just lost my beloved Cherokee and it just took me a while to figure out I loved KC too much to let him go to another home! And part of me knew that a dog named KC would not be a foster long, considering I grew up near Kansas City, MO. A week after KC's offical adoption, his middle name became Chief...named after my favorite NFL team.

Bio:
KC loves, Loves, LOVES every person and dog. If you ever meet KC, he is only jumping on you to give you a good kiss (lick) on the face. KC's "BFF" (Best Friend Forever) was Murray, a tall black and white, Musterlander-type dog, that lived below us! If Murray is awake at home and hears us go outside to the backyard, he would start to bark so his owners would bring him outside to wrestle with KC. If Murray is home alone and barks, KC will howl back to him to keep him company. Murray moved to Baton Rouge. KC is in search of a new BFF.

KC was ADOPTED!!!!

KC was adopted yesterday! I was a "foster-failure" and decided to keep him. It makes me unable to foster anymore Siberian Huskies for a while, but KC is just too neat of a dog to let go. KC now has a permanent home and a permanent place to lay his head at night...even if it is right next to mine on the pillow!

KC graduated from Obeidence I a couple weeks ago and has now moved on to Obedience II. KC still has the most crooked butt in the class when he is healing and ever time we stop, I have to correct his position to sit right next to me instead of off to the side looking at me. But, he now understands that when I tell him to Stay that he is supposed to stay put even if I walk away. In addition, he picked up the hand signals for Sit and Down with out a hitch.

Hedgehog is still alive. But, he's missing some hair and a paw.

Bye, bye Chicken...Hello Hedgehog!

Well guys, the chicken got its beak ripped off. I wonder who could have done that. KC gets his raw hide bones confused with the stuffed squeaky toys sometimes and tears them to pieces. Chicken is still alive, but in intensive care at the Stuffed Toy Animal Hospital waiting to be sewed back together. Since KC seems to LOVE his stuffed squeaky animals, he got a new one. This time we got one with out a beak....It's a Hedgehog! Everyone at doggie day care was so surprised that KC tore up his chicken. But, they say he loves on his Hedgehog just as much as he loved on his chicken. Sometimes, KC gets so excited to play with his Hedgehog (I only let him play with it if he won't tear it up) that he starts to "hump" when I give him the Hedgehog.

As far as Basic Obedience I, KC is doing great! He is learning to heal great! Still working on getting "down" without a treat...but it happens. KC will graduate on the 6th of January. The class took a holiday break and will have our test and graduate on January 6th.

Keep your fingers (and paws) crossed that KC finds his forever home!

KC's "crooked butt" continues

We found out this week in Obedience (Basic I) that KC does not have to straighten up his "crooked butt" when he is healing until Basic Obedience II. That's a whole 6 weeks or so away! Whew! KC was thinking that was going to be a hard thing to implement a straight butt in this new thing called "Heal" so quickly.
