I happened across a kennel in Sweden and all the dogs on the website looked like they could have been Fred's family. I decided I wanted a pup from a particularly beautiful female, Jeketerina. It was a very long wait to see if she would catch, waiting for the pups. I wanted a male and Helena, the breeder called when the pups were born and said "sorry, all females." But, as we were on the phone, one last pup came and it was male. A couple weeks later, my husband and I were watching the movie Troy, and I got an email saying that his name was going to be Troy. That was it!
The breeder wanted some dogs from Canada. She was in a bit of a dilema on how to get them to Sweden. My husband used 14 years of my air miles to fly the two Canadian dogs to Stockholm and then pick up our puppy and fly him all the way back to Florida. Bio: Troy's mother is a model for an English Dept. store. She and Helena flew to Stockholm for a modeling shoot and her pictures are published in a catalogue. She is a Finnish Champion and trail leader. His dad is a rising star on the sled dog racing circuit in Scandanavia. We think Troy will have the best of both his parents. So far he has a very sweet disposition and more air miles than most people.
Troy earned his AKC Rally Novice Obedience August 2010 at the Admiral Peary Obedience Trials in Pa. Earned his CKC RN at Barrie Kennel Club Trials August 2011 and UKC URO1 at Buffalo, NY in November 2011. He passed his Canine Good Citizen at the Siberian Nationals. My big goof ball is maturing!
