Birthday: October 13th 2004 Likes: Chewing up the toys that I buy for her Pet-Peeves: One of the other dogs taking a toy, hearing a toy squeak & not being able to find it Favorite Toy: ANYTHING that squeaks! Favorite Food: She loves her Tiny T's & just loves to eat period! Favorite Walk: Do you mean run? Best Tricks: Snatching a treat out of my hand that is meant for Homer or Giselle , doing the weenie dog (sitting up) Arrival Story: The owner of the mama dog was going through a divorce so we got all three puppies (Homer, Giselle & Coco) for FREE! We've had them since they were only 4 weeks old. Bio: Coco is a chocolate & tan shorthair. She's such a funny little dog - chews & tears up everything she can wrap her teeth around. She gets a little anxious (I think from her previous experience with the ex-girlfriend of my son & also her kid who used to chew on Coco's ears). She knows we love her dearly! Forums Motto: If it squeaks, I must destroy it! Yippee! We three are going to Central Bark today for a meetup with the North Texas Hot Dogs! I can't wait - at least 15 other doxies have said they will be there. I'll be more comfortable with my kind of dogs - sometimes when we go there I see dogs taller than me & they make me nervous because they try to sniff me. I had to snarl at some of them & then sit on the bench with Mama & Ryan so they would leave me alone. I LOVE the dog park though!
Wow! That was quite an ordeal! Mama said that she & Ryan had never been so scared - it's good that I don't remember much about it because the morphine made me so sleepy. I didn't wake up until much later that day and I still felt all woozy for several hours. And Ryan wouldn't let me out of my crate either. He said that when he took me outside to pee that I fell down in the grass and acted like I couldn't walk. He got really worried! But then the next day I was feeling FINE! Isn't that amazing? Mama came over & spent the day with us & she was so happy that I was better. They said I have to be very quiet for the next few days so again I spent almost all day in the crate. But at least I can walk now and it doesn't hurt. The sad part is that I can't see Homer & Giselle for at least a week. Guess I'll just have to be the spoiled little princess that I am until then! When Mama called my doctor he said no running & no rough play for a couple of weeks and then I should be OK. He said that about 85% of doxies with back problems can recover without surgery if you catch it early so they can get a steroid shot. Mama said, "wouldn't you know that it happened to the only one without insurance?" I guess that means me......
It attacked me without warning while I was sleeping! How mean! I didn't even know what happened. I was spending the night with Mama & sleeping right beside her in the bed when it struck me. Mama rolled over & I started yelping real loud - it scared Mama to death. She rushed me to the vet because my back was bowed & I was crying. The vet took an x-ray and then he gave me a steroid shot that REALLY made me cry. When I didn't stop, he gave me a shot of Morphine that sort of knocked me out - I don't remember much after that. Then I threw up in the car on the way home & I started breathing funny so they took me back to my vet & he checked me over real good & said I was OK and that the morphine would keep me quiet so I could rest. I'm asleep now & I'll just see how I feel when I wake up.
