"Don't cry Kenny"

On June 1st 1998 I was nearing the end of my life. I was now 15 years, 3 months and 4 days old. I could not walk and could not eat (over 7 days) and had lost about 10 lbs. I used to weigh 16lbs but now was down to 6 and started to look pretty bad. Kenny came home from work and kissed me as usual but noticed that I was bleeding from the mouth. Kenny cried and hugged me so tight I knew he felt very bad. Well, off to the vet we went and sure enough the vet said it was time for me to move on. I did not feel bad for myself because I knew I had the best life I could ever have. I felt bad for Kenny because I know how much he will miss me. He told me that he loved me and that we would see each other again some day. He also told me that he would keep my memory alive until his last days on earth. My body may be gone but I'm still alive as a spirit inside of Kenny. I am buried near Bunga Jo near the apple tree and every single day I hear Kenny talking to me and Bunga.

Well, that's my life, there are so many memories that can not be put down in words, it would take forever. At least Vickie and Lady for now will have to keep Kenny and his wife company and happy. See you and "Thanks for Reading my diary".

"Hey, I can't Walk'

Sometime in late 1995 I began to have trouble getting up to go outside or get a drink of water. Every once in awhile I would fall down. My right rear leg would kind of become useless. Kenny (my beloved male owner) took me to the vet but they said they could do nothing. After about three months, Kenny came home from work and I could not get up to greet him. Boy they were sure sad that day but thank goodness Kenny said no matter what that he would take care of me, making sure I got outside for exercise, got water and even put diapers on me. I hated that at first but got used to it after about a month. Kenny took care of me just like people do in nursing homes only much better. I still got to go on trips with my family and was still very happy but that darn leg just would not move anymore. I stayed on my pillow or in my bed until Kenny was home to look after me. I still got baths and groomed ever two weeks. I was still enjoying life just being home with Vic and Lady and my beloved human family. I remember Kenny holding me in his arms on the beach in Biloxi , Mississippi and a women coming up to pet me, she did not know I was a cripple. I think I had the best human family a dog could have.
