This is one interesting family that I now call my own!
We have had up to 10 dogs here at any one given time. My Mom is a Petsitter, and a Foster Care for Dogs. Its been a change for me, coming from a safe, sheltered home! I am learning, even at 10 years old, to tolerate, and be a very good girl.
My mom is taking a course through Marin Humane Society starting in September, that will teach her more on how to evaluate and modify canine temperments. She gets to take one of us with her every class! We will all learn more, and so will she! Thank God! Fostering is not easy!

Wow, folks around here get real crazy about birthdays! Talk about the Queen Nola! Its not even supper time yet and I've gotten so many cookies that I swear I am gonna pop!
My first birthday in my new home.
I don't like toys much, but I live for car rides. So Dad is gonna take me "petsitting" with him! Moms' still on bedrest, she's good for napping with. And Cookie-Giving. Oh, and she knows all my best itchy spots......
It's turning out to be a reallly gooood day!
Wufff!

Well, Queen Nola has entered the pack. In a big way, for a very small dog. We weren't looking to adopt another dog. Well, we weren't! We just found out that Gracie's tumors were cancer, we are working with two NCBR foster boys, but Nola was definitely meant to be.
I met her at Rocklin Park Veterinary Clinic. Her Parents had moved to an Assisted Living facility and she was being loved and cared for by their kids. Adult kids. Extremely nice folks. One look at Nola and I was in love! Her people went into the Vets with me, and donated towards Gracie's surgery. Yup. I cried.
We all went to Nola's first Parent's apartment, I met them, they are truly nice folks. They all made a very selfless decision for Nola. I have found that to be quite rare. People usually feel like their dog is their possession. These folks really wanted to be sure that Nola was to have a very happy life. I respect that.
We do Rescue and Rehabilitation. We work hard to help dogs "get over" their past life and learn new behaviors. Nola is not a Rescue. Not really. She is a wonderful dog, almost 10 years old, that has now decided that our home is just what she wanted.
Nola goes on mobile pet sits with us. She greets new dogs happily and with balance. She is not like the dogs we get from the shelters that don't know love and trust. She just figures thats the way that it works! For us? We feel blessed.
We feel lucky. Thank you very much to the Trask family for bringing Nola into our lives.
By the way? She licked my horse, Sunny, right on the nose today. Where was my camera then?!
We intend to stay in contact with her family. We plan to have "visits" with them whenever we are bringing our others to Rocklin Park Veterinary Hospital. Fate. Her family lives nearby.
Everything happens for a reason.
Yes we currently have a Pack of Six. And every new dog brings something else to the dynamics of the pack. Nola has brought a nice balance. Everyone LOVES her.
