Quick Bio:
-mutt-dog rescue

Best Tricks:
Izzy knows sit, down, heel w/auto sit, and will shake with either paw. She is VERY smart and learns new tricks very quickly (plus she loves to learn).

Arrival Story:
It's amazing what a little time, a little patience, and a lot of love can do. Isabelle (Izzy for short) was rescued out of the same woods that Meadow was rescued from. In fact, we are pretty sure that Izzy is a puppy out of one of Meadow's previous litters. All of Izzy's siblings were either killed by man or by wild animals while they were very young. Even though she was still a pup herself at the time of her rescue, she already had 3 pups of her own. Over the past several months, Izzy went from being completely frightened at the sight of people, to learning how to walk on a leash, then gradually relaxing to where she would allow her foster mom to pet her. She went from allowing affection to eventually welcoming it. Izzy now becomes very attached to the people around her. She has also befriended her foster family's dogs and loves to play with them. Izzy is very active and athletic. She would make a wonderful candidate for canine sports. (Being able to excel in an activity or to even have a "job" would boost Izzy's confidence level that much more.) Izzy is accustomed to being around cats. If they run, she will chase them, but is otherwise fine around them. Izzy has also discovered how much fun toys are and she is a big fan of treats. We would like to find a home for Izzy with experienced dog people in an active household. Adolescent-aged kids and older would be best. Izzy was born around March of 2006, so she has finished growing. She is on her way to becoming housetrained. Izzy is spayed, fully vaccinated, wormed, heartworm-negative and is on monthly heartworm prevention. Our $175 adoption fee helps offset the cost of Izzy's vet visit. If Izzy sounds like the ideal addition to your family and if you are ready to make a lifetime commitment to this lovely, sweet girl, please click on this link to complete our online application: Adoption Application

Bio:
Her puppies are all weaned and adopted, she is UTD on shots, spayed, HW negative, and UTD on HW preventive. Izzy has come a long way from the little feral dog she used to be. She is now good with people and other animals, although we are looking for a home that is experienced with dogs, and doesn't have any little kids (over ten is OK). She has been very good with kids, but she has not been around very young kids.

The Life of Isabelle

Update

July 19th 2007 8:16 am   [link to this entry]

Sorry about not writing here in a while. I have been busy with my foster mom! She has taught me that I should only go to the bathroom outside (she called it house training), she also taught me how to sit, lay down, and shake either paw on command. I found out that I LOVE learning new things!!! It is sooo much fun!! My FM says we need to work more on "wave" (Where I wave my paws on command), come, sit-stay, and down-stay.

I also now let my FM pick me up, cut my nails, and roll me on my back (she says she wants to teach me how to play dead too). I love it when my FM gives me hugs and kisses, and I love to play with my FM and the other dogs in my foster home. I am really looking forward to this new life I get to live and am very thankful that my FM was able to catch me when I was in the woods. I have found out that there is a much better life than roaming in the woods and look forward to living that life. My FM says she will make sure that the person who adopts me loves me as much as my FM does. = ) I will be sad to leave my FM, but I know I am ready for a new home and need to go to my forever home so she can help another dog like me. I will remember her forever, and she says that she will remember me forever too. = )

It's COLD!!!

January 17th 2007 10:26 am   [link to this entry]

You northern dogs might be laughing because I think it is cold here, but here in Texas, this is REALLY cold weather. It has been 30 F for the past few days (around 20 F at night)!!! I am SO happy that I am inside a nice warm house now instead of running loose in the woods right now. I hope it warms up soon so I can go outside and play. I just have a very thin coat and get cold easily, so I don't like being outside when it's cold, although some of the Border Collies who live here are happy that it is so cold. They love to run and play in the cold weather. I can't wait for spring!!!

Life in my foster home

January 10th 2007 11:20 am   [link to this entry]

I'm going to pick up where I left off in my last entry. My puppies grew up and each of them found wonderful forever homes about a week before Christmas. They are all doing great and loving life in their new homes. Meadow's puppies are just about ready to go to their forever homes. Meadow is also now looking for her forever home. She now fully trusts our foster mom and the rest of the family, plus has finnished all of her vetting, so she is ready to find her new home now.

I am not quite ready to trust most people, but am begining to trust our foster mom. She has been very kind to us. She has taught me how to walk on a leash, gives me alot of treats, and gives me a nice warm, soft place to sleep. She has also taught me how to play with stuffed toys, and to play pull tug. I am starting to think that there are nice people out there, who just want to help us.
