Arrival Story:
Mom and Dad were cat people... Just cats... All of the sudden Mom started talking about dogs... Dad just went along with the flow not thinking she was serious. She heard about a yorkie rescue that were being evaluated at our local shelter and went down to check them out. There I was in my kennel the day that I came out of my 7 day foster evaluation. I wasn't a yorkie, but she thought my little black nose was cute sticking through the chain link fence. She also said I was the only one not making a sound. I sure fooled her!!!!!! She took me outside on lead and I ran around her like I was crazy. She thought to sit down on the ground and I launched into her lap, flipped over to show her my belly and kissed her. She fell in love right then and there. I had long, curly hair and was listed as a poodle cross. Our friend and groomer found the Schnauzer under it all. She took me on a hike the very first day I came home and she realized that I do have the cutest schnauzer butt in the world. I'm sure that I would have been adopted if she hadn't found me, but I'm sure glad she did.

Bio:
Duncan is brilliant in every manner. He is my heart and soul and the reason that three other dogs live with us. Duncan has reached the Masters level in Agility and on June 23, 2007 earned his Championship. He then went to Nationals and took one of only seven perfect scores and his standard championship. He is an amazing little dog and has taught us that dogs can fill places in a home and a heart.

My Mom... The Stray Saver...

Mom was driving home tonight and about a half mile before our driveway she saw a HUGE white lab sort-of dog run out of a driveway into rush hour traffic. She quickly turned her car around in someones driveway and went back to find it. He was sort of huddled up against a guardrail against a culvert and looked very scared. She pulled in after the guardrail and got out and quietly talked to him. He was scared but came right to her. He had a collar on, but only a tag from the local shelter where I was adopted from. She said he was a big sweet sort of dog that didn't have a mean bone in his very large body. She assessed a Lab/Boxer mix maybe and was able to get his collar. She said "wanna go for a ride???" and he was all excited. He jumped up in the backseat of her car (the Canine Recreational Vehicle) and made himself right at home. She turned her car around and headed back to the house so she could call the dog officer and the shelter and report that she had him. Our pawrents keep all strays until the hoomans are located, so he wouldn't have gone anywhere. While she was driving back she noticed a car at the end of the driveway that the dog had bolted out of. She stopped and asked if they were missing a dog and they were so relieved to find out she had him in her back seat. They were mildly surprised too and the man said that he would "show him some discipline" when they got home. Mom explained that he wasn't doing it to cause any discontent, he was a new rescue and didn't know where his home was quite yet. She said to love him, give him a name he would know and treat him when he so much as turned his head for that name. He wouldn't roam if he knew he was loved at home. They were very grateful and told her she was his savior. Nope, just a good dog mom.

Love you mom and thanks for looking out for the other dogs of the world.

Duncan

Enthusiast C-ATE!

Hi Pups,
We had a great time in Vermont this weekend and the first run of Saturday I took my Enthusiast C-ATE title. That's the big one! The one for all the marbles! Ya, I know that Doolin and Duffy beat me to it, but I'm older and mom was really worried about me running healthy so she held me back on every trial. I'm only allowed to run 2 or 3 runs per day to their 4 or 5. Anywho, I'm a Champion Extraordinaire now with mom and that's cool. They had cake and champagne and lots of fun loud cheering. It was all good, but I was happy just to go back to the Mutt Hut and relax a bit. There were torrential downpours and the place was getting mighty soggy by the end of the day, but we all made it through and our judge, Paul Stusalitus was a real good sport about everything. He laughs when we run cause mom and dad have a good time out on course. I'm glad that we do all of this cause I can't think of what I would have done for the past 9 years if we didn't! YEAH US!

Hug the world,
CT-ATE Duncan PDIII (will it every stop???)

PDIII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes dogs, after 1.5 years I have finally given mom her bestest birthday present EVER! I, Duncan McLeod of the Clan McLeod have finished my PDIII title. Mom was so thrilled today when I finished my Standard run in perfect form and 8 seconds under time. Long, long ago when we started USDAA, Mom was pretty thrilled to take home a fourth place rosette and thought this was the best fun ever. Of course over the years we moved up through the ranks and titles came in and she thought maybe, someday we would get to Performance Dog III level, but I grew older and slowed a little and course times weren't always quite fair and we had more and more NQs than Qs. Finally mom figured out that if she just relaxed and had fun and stopped chasing the stupid titles, then I would relax, have fun and run FAST! It worked and my 10 year-old body rocked the house today! I also took a Snooker Q in PIII and am well on my way to my Snooker Championship. There is a lot of life left in this old dog and don't you forget it! I think I'll go take a nap... Being a rock star is hard work!

Hugs,
Duncan
