Arrival Story:
Zach Came into Marks Life around the age of 3-4 mo. He had been returned to his breeder twice cause the other folks didn't realize how big he'd get. (DUH) Then at the age of almost 6 I came into his life and Mark says he's been ruined for life. I spoil him and he acts so unmalamute like around me (sometimes). So he gets called Mamma's boy alot. Zach is the greatest dog. All of our Dogs look up to him and they all get along so well. We are blessed to have him in our lifes.

Bio:
UPDATE DEC 13, 2010. We are so sad to announce our hearts have broken today. After along struggle Zach went home to heaven today. We miss you so much big guy, Mommy doesn't know what to do not having you to care for, I hope your happy and pain free. Chase lots of bunnies and eat whatever you want my big buddy. Wooooooooooo We love you forever. Zach and Kira came to the Dog Park in our area about the sametime Strider was old enough to go to. Thats where we all met. The people at the Dog Park used to call Zach "Sheriff Zach" and Strider was his deputy. They were always checking after new dogs and breaking up any problems that arouse. But Zach and Strider had a bigger plan that we were unaware of for awhile. They were playing match maker all along and it took us dumb humans to figure it out later. So for over 4 years now we have all been one big happy family. Thanks to our wonderful Zachie and Stridie. Thanks boys Mommy and Daddy really love you and love what you give and gave to us. SMoooooooches and huggggs.

Gotta Catch me a possum

I still got it.

Well I still got it. Humom thinks I am amazing. I have no idea what that means but I get lots of pets and attention when she says it.
I have caught 4 possums in the last month. Humom says I am quick as lightning and can't believe how a 9 year old large furry Malamute could have so much patients and speed.
I'll let Humommy tell ya the rest I need to go sleep in the shade now.

Hi all, Yup Big Dog still has got it. Although I find it gross to see a dead animal in our yard, I find it very amazing how quick he is and actually how humane. He doesn't make them suffer and treats them with respect for the most part. Yes that is nasty gross but Malamutes are very close to the wolf and it is the cycle of life.

So we have a house on a hill the front part is up on stilts and we have a wrap around deck with a double deck area.
That is where the possums and rats have decided to eat right through some cement and dirt and wood to get up into the area where our dogs hang out. So you can see they are not too smart to start with.
Where the hole is, is a strip of dirt and rock below and then our bedroom sliding door. Enough room for a full grown Malamute to lie down. But once Zach places his scent down on the ground he moves up to the deck up out of the way of the hole and just waits very quietly. After a bit he backs off just enough where the rodent of the day won't see or smell him. Then the dumb rodent of the day pops its head out just enough and WHAMOO Zach has got himself a prize.
Its amazing to see him move.

I guess one got into the yard one night and Zach wasn't around so Strider decided to try his luck. Knowing possums are nasty I am sure he startled it and then turned to run and bit Strider right on the back foot.
After treating it and wrapping it for a week and a half it healed and I don't think he will be doing that again.
Kira does not seem to interested in the catching part she just likes the run out of the house 50 times a night while we are kicking it on the couch. They all run out the dog door like their rear end where on fire, barking and screaching so loudly its nuts. Then come back almost as fast. I guess thats their way of chasing all intruders away.

Thats our possum story.
Woooooonderful reading.

Possum Stew

I am just so frustrated. For weeks there has been this little possum under our deck. He gets right up to where my nose can just touch him and then he goes away leaving me all frustrated.
My Humon tried catching it with what she calls a havaheart, but to me it looks just like a cage. I wonder if she is wanting to keep it as a pet. If I make alot of noise every night chasing it around the deck maybe she won't want to keep it.
A dog can't catch a break around here. First they (humans) make a safe place for the ferel cats so I can't get to them and now this smarty pants possum is making me feel like I have lost my touch.
Soon I just know I will be having me some possum Stew.
Cross your paws for me you all.
Well I guess I feel a little better getting that off my chest.
Night all,
Woooo kisses,
Zach
