Lupe was rescued from another (bad bad bad) shelter and taken to the humane society hospital my wife worked. She had a broken hip and pelvis and couldn't use her back legs. We fostered her, but thought she would be too fragile for our dachshund so we returned her. Being that my wife saw her at work every day, she fell in love with Lupe. She snuck Hamish (our Dachshund) to meet Lupe and they hit it off immediately (the photo of them playing to the left is their first meeting). When I finally saw how in love Hamish was, who was I to deny?
Bio:
Her pelvis healed quicky, but developed arthritis quickly too. She ended up having her hip joint removed, but I don't think she missed it after about a day. Within 48 hours she was dragging her brother around in his fleece bed, even with the 10 or so stiches in her leg! We think that her pelvis injury was due to being hit by a bicycle- she's terrified of them. You'd never know she'd suffered abuse because she has such a sunny disposition. At the Humane Society, after we adopted her, she would sit up at the receptionist's area and greet people. It was amazing to see how many people's moods she was able to improve. She's taught us a lot about how not to let difficult curcumstances dictate your outlook on life.

Mom's not too sure when I was born. I had baby teeth when we met so I could be about three now. Anyway, today marks the day I was adopted forever, two years ago, into my family. This morning Mom woke me up (I was snoring) and told me she loves me forever and she's glad I limped into that humane society hospital she worked at two years ago. I try not to remember too much about that time. I was mostly scared, but I hid it by trying to lick everyone, hoping they wouldn't hurt me like the first humans I met. Anyway, enough of bad memories! Today is essentially my birthday!!! I'm going to play and bark, and snooze in the sun and maybe I'll get a meat cake, Mmmmm!
