Arrival Story:
Gertie came in as a rescue named Shayna at the age of 11 1/2. She was surrendered and we were told she was aggressive and not housebroken. That couldn't be farther from the truth. Her breath was horrid and she is not your typical affectionate pug. She lived with another dog and was quite clearly treated as the ugly step sister in her previous home and knew it. She underwent her dental and lost all her teeth but the 4 canines. She started to warm up to people and now will let you pet her for short periods of time but does quite enjoy a good belly rub too!! After having her here I realized she wasn't going to be easy to place. She doesn't enjoy long walks, she's not energetic and playful and she's not affectionate and open with kisses. Gertie pretty much just takes up space in one of the many dog beds. She loves to sleep and will willingly curl up with any one of the others, be it canine or feline. She's not picky on who she sleeps with!!! SADLY GERTIE WENT TO THE RAINBOW BRIDGE ON JUNE 18th. She left this world in the same fashion as she lived, quietly and without fanfare. Even though she was only here for 7 short months, she was loved and will be forever missed. I hope she is looking down and enjoying bread and bagels.

Bio:
Grandma Gert is the senior of the seniors. She moves at her own pace but can really trot when she sees bread.
