My new Sister Juniper

Dear Diary,

Well I have a new sister..they were right!! Her name is Juniper and she's part basset like me. Which it is nice to have someone you're own size for a change. She's not too swift sometimes though. She's gotten into a lot of stuff, but on the other hand, I'm not the one getting in trouble :) !! I've been trying to help her learn that she needs to go potty outside, and she finally rings the bell but then she does dumb stuff, like pee on the couch or the bed..that doesn't make the humans very happy!

She also doesn't like her crate, I've even gotten in it to help her but she's just not getting it. I guess she's only been with me a month though so I can't really talk. I was pretty slow at first too.

It's so nice to have someone to cuddle with at night and wrestle with, I never knew what I was missing.

Nursing Home Visit and a Sister!

Well I had my first nursing home visit! It was great! I got soooo much attention and the older people loved me. I put my front paws on the bed so they could pet me, since I'm so low to the ground! Squeaker went too. It seemed that the ladies liked him better and the guys liked me. I'm not quite sure why that is but I intend to change it, I can't let squeaker get all the attention!

On another note, My mom said that soon I may be getting a sister. I guess I'm beating up on the cat a little too much and need someone more my size to play with. They're thinking that after the holidays, we'll get her. We go home to PA a lot and mom thinks it may be too much around the holidays for the new dog to get comfortable with all the traveling we do. She told me that I'll have to help the dog with her transition, I guess I have to teach her some things because she hasn't had a family her whole life like I have. I"m ready though!!

My first nursing home visit

I will be attending my first nursing home visit next week with my cat brother squeaker. We both passed the evaluation to become involved with pets on wheels. I did spectacularly well for my age, at least that's what I'm told. I can't wait to love up all the old people. I'll be sure to let you know how I make out and how much fun I had!!!

I learned to Sit Up!!

Dear Diary,

After almost a year and a half, I can finally sit up. Everyone thought it was impossible (except my mom) because I am soooooo loooonnnggg. Well she kept working with me and holding my paw to help balance me. One day I did it all by myself. I am so proud!! I think I'm adorable when I do it because everyone oohs and ahhs over me! And then to add to the excitement, I started smiling. Every day my mom gets home from work I smile ear to ear, it kind of looks like I'm bearing my teeth but my mom knows I'm happy to see her.

You know fellow doggies, sitting up is a good way to make your humans give you what you want. Sometimes I just do it when people are ignoring me and then I get a treat!! Just an FYI!!

My Vet Appointment

Dear Diary,

On Monday my mom took me to the vet because I've been limping on my right front paw and it just happend out of nowhere. So she took me to the vet and he was feeling my leg. When he got to my shoulder he started to rotate it and I yelped so loud eveyone in the building heard me. It hurt so bad so I ran and hid under my mom 's chair. They said I need x-rays but my mom is concerned about the cost of them so we're going to see another vet on Saturday to get a second opinion. I'm scared, I don't want them to hurt my leg again because since then I've been limping even more. My mom has been giving me lots of love though to help stop the pain and the dr. did give me mild pain meds but they aren't doing much. I really hope I am okay.

My First Birthday

Well last week was my 1st birthday. It was wonderful. I was given steak...mmm yummy my favorite and then later on mom and dad gave me a bowl of vanilla ice cream with a candle in it and sang to me. I had to wear a silly hat but I didn't mind once I got the ice cream!!! It was a good time. I can't wait for next year. They also got me a new toy and some treats!!!

It made the cats jealous!!!

Decorating

This weekend mommy and daddy put up christmas lights outside and they weren't playing with me. So I decided to play with them and help them put up Christmas lights. I kept getting in trouble because I wanted to help. I just figured as daddy was going around the tree with the lights, I would help him!! So they took pictures of me helping them and then I wasn't allowed to do it anymore. Gee Whiz!!! A dog can't have any fun!!
