Likes:
Playing PULL!!! Knocking her tug rope in her canine and human companions faces until someone finally plays Pull! Eating/licking/tossing the basenji "babies" when they let her.

Pet-Peeves:
Not playing PULL. Derga does not like being left alone for too long, or when anyone in the house is away. Thunder really bugs her.

Favorite Toy:
The Besenjis' pull rope from when they were babies, followed by her own pull rope from when she was adopted. She has, since coming to live with us, vivasected the other toys which were no match for a game of PULL.

Favorite Food:
Anything humans eat and chicken bones from the block ... but she can't have either as she has a sensitive tummy. She lives on Science Diet and Dinabones.

Favorite Walk:
Derga loves the Dog Run, but makes folks a bit nervous because she is such a big pit bull.

Best Tricks:
Derga can sit, lay down, give paw, and play dead (really well). And, she can PULL, but more importantly she will let go PULLING if you know the magic word, "out".

Arrival Story:
During a seperation from my boyfriend of five years and our two baby girl basenjis (now almost 2 years-old), I found myself missing the girls far too much and decided to adopt an older dog from the local shelter across the street. Although my ex and I are once again living together, the extra mouth to feed has been a blessing in disquise ... for our girls, Malice and Chalice, needed a mom, or at least a full-time referee, and Derga needed some babies to nurture and love.

Bio:
Derga was used for breeding and left tied to a shelter all bloody and beaten. After living at the shelter for nearly 8 mos., I was the first person to show interest in her, after three trial nights with me and the Basenjis, we all fell hopelessly in love and could not imagine sending her back to the shelter. So, I adopted her from the barc shelter: www.barcshelter.org - a wonderful shelter BTW to find the companion of a lifetime ...
