Arrival Story: Currently am keeping her for two weeks to see if owner is located. I work in a vet's office and one of our clients found her in her backyard. The client is 7 months pregnant with two dogs of her own. My mom is interested in chihuahua's and I had mentioned it to her. So I told her that if the owners were not foundto please give me a call. Well, I went to lunch and by the time I came back, I had a message to call her. I ended up going and picking her up to keep her here with me for the two weeks. But upon talking to the client, one of her neighbors said she thought she saw someone drop something into her backyard the same night the client found the dog. So we are not sure she will be claimed. If my mom doesn't take her, we will probably keep her. The danes don't appear to be bothered by her and she definitely is not afraid of them!! Bio: Wow~ Mom hasn't updated my page in ages!! Of course she has been offline (computer crashed!!) fr several months. Short story is ... I ain't going no where! My ratty dog butt is here to stay permanently! Mom says I am as bratty as the rest of them too! I don't think I am!! She acts all big and tough like she doesn't care for me but in all reality, she has a major soft spot for me!! She says I serve well as a living dane toy!! BOL I am Mason and Skylar's favorite "toy" and vise versa! Maggie on the other hand thinks I am a pest. She prefers that bug eyed brother of mine, Gabe. Can't figure that one out at all!! Well, speaking of the devil, gotta go play wif him before he drives me bonkers! Woofers! Forums Motto: Take me on .... I dare you!! I have a Golden retriever. I was buying a large bag of Purina at Wal-Mart and was in line to check out. A woman behind me asked if I had a dog? (DUH!)
On impulse, I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, and that I was starting the Purina Diet again. Although I probably shouldn't, because I'd ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50
pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.
I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story.)
Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no; I stepped off a curb to sniff an Irish Setter's butt and a car hit us both.
I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack, he was laughing so hard!
I am glad that we have this little guest at this moment. She has been a spot of sunshine in a very dismal end of the weekend and beginning of this week. God has blessed me twice with two sanity saving girls each time one has passed. Sadie Kate joined our pack about 10 days after Chyanne's passing and our "guest" joined us 2 days prior to my beloved first child, Reba, who made us a family the day after my husband and I were married, passing to the bridge. I have never been around such a small dog and never had very good experiences with Chihuahua's so they (in all honesty!) have never been a favorite breed of mine. But this little girl has brought some giggles into this weekend and has given me a whole new insight into Chihuahua's. I have to selfishly say I hope she is not claimed as I have become very attached to her in the past few days she has been with us. Especially with Reba leaving me. My husband is across the country and so I have been here alone to deal with the loss. (I am so glad to have a friend of mine that lives practically across the street from us that is like family to us. Without her physical support and words of wisdom, I truly don't know how I could pull myself through.) If she does remain in our home, I think I have finally come up with a name that sticks. At first I thought of Minx cause she is just that! But the more I used it, the more it sounded like a cat name. And I remembered that some past friends of ours did have a cat by that name so I decided Minx just couldn't stick. So after discussing it with my hubby while talking over the internet, we decided we both liked Maya. So Maya it will be. Now the wait goes on. Paws crossed that she remains but if she does belong to someone, I only hope they come forward. Knowing how much I love my kids and miss them when they leave me, I can only imagine the worry they must be feeling if in fact she is a "lost" pet.
