Arrival Story:
Tank was 8 weeks old when he came to live with us. We had recently lost our dog Baxter and we were all very sad. Baxter was a black lab and we also had a dalmation named Ceaser at the time. My mother in law had a Shih Tzu back then and we were all very much in love with him. We decided we would get a smaller dog if we got a dog at all. We always seem to be a two dog family. Tank is tank because he is big for a Shih Tzu. He is long and strong and a funny guy. I love how he comes with me everywhere. He is very loyal and a good listener. He really needs a routine. He gets messed up when the routine changes. He doesn't like thunder storms or noises that sound like thunder storms. He is 8 years old now and still plays with our other dog, Josie, like he was a puppy sometimes. He is very cute! He doesn't love children but is accepting of them. He will growl to let them know they are bugging him and if that happens we stop the interacting. He doesn't bite people but he doesn't put up with a lot of people either. He will leave the room. Lately he has been very affectionate to our house guests. I feel he is mellowing in his old age. I even get a little jealous. I am really glad we got him. He makes us keep a routine and stay on schedule. He is always available to talk to and snuggle with. I have recently started grooming him myself. Now I know why they charge so much. It is not that easy. There is a lot to groom and the first few haircuts were not exactly attractive. Poor guy couldn't wait to outgrow them. I swear he felt ashamed. But I got the hang of it now and he looks pretty awesome these days. He is so patient with me. Tank is one of my best friends and I'm grateful he is in my life.
