This is a story written by my Mommie HillBill. It's about a dog she met at the animal shelter she used to volunteer at.

i was going down the aisle, checking on the dogs. each one of them seemed so happy to see me, they wanted playtime. i was more than happy to give it to them, but i wanted to check if all of the kennels were clean and such. i came across a dog that caught my heart.

she was a 2 year old merle great dane. her name was Sidney. i loved danes, and i wanted to play with this one. i came in there and she jumped on me, her paws on my shoulders, licking my face. i eventually trained her to do that whenever i held my arms out, as if i was asking for a hug. someimes we'd be hugging, and i'd look into her eyes, and they, seeing no threat in me, would say to me: "Please adopt be. I want to be your bestfriend. Let me show you how wonderful I am." but i already knew.

i wanted so badly to keep her. weeks passed by, and she was still there. i'd be in her kennel, petting her, and people with a dog would walk by. Sid was dog-aggressive, and she'd go into a barking/growling fit. whenever she did that, i'd put my hand on her back and say "calm down. i want other people to see the same 'wonderfulness' that i see in you." and every time, she'd look at me, her eyes saying "But I'm going to stay with you. What's the point?"

as much as i wanted to have her, i couldn't. Mom said "no more dogs," plus Sid was dog-aggressive, so she & Jasmine wouldn't get along. but, if i was out of college, had my own house & my own life, i wouldn't have thought twice about it-- she would've been mine.

~gosh that was sad, i almost CRIED just writing it. i can still, today, see her big brown eyes looking at me, as if we had a future...~

Work For Food

My crazy owner Hillary makes me do tricks for my dinner. First, I have to bring my food bowl to her. Once she fills up the bowl, she makes me spin, lay down, and crawl to her foot. Then we go to the stairway [she feeds me there so as to not hurt my neck--im so TALL!] and she sets the food down, makes me wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, until she says I can eat. Yup, this girl's insane--next, she's gonna start thinking that she's the Alpha Dog! hah.
