Sumter is doing well in his Search and Rescue training. His obedience training is also coming along, but is boring compared to SAR. Note: professional photos by: Tom Weigand

I found Tilly :-)

I went to our recently purchased 20 acres in the high desert area of Utah with my owner, my "sister" (15 yo Tilly) and my best friend in the neighborhood (1 yo Brittney named Annie). We have an old camping trailer on the property, which works well until we can afford to build a small cabin. At 1 am I convinced my owner to let us all out to potty. Tilly became confused and couldn't find her way back to the trailer. My owner looked around in the dark for over an hour before calling a halt to the search for the safety of everyone else. There were hundreds of acres to search, and my owner wasn't paying much attention to me. After all, I've had some search dog training, and am GOOD!

We got up at first light to look for Tilly. Once "mom" put Annie up and asked me to "find Tilly" I went to work. I found her. She had fallen into a gully, invisible to humans. I found Tilly, checked her out to make sure she was okay, then went off to play. I did my job :-) "Mom" wouldn't have found Tilly without my help! Maybe "mom" will find time, and get in shape, so we can officially work SAR.
