on monday this week we lost fitz, my friend he went over the rainbow. he would have been 14 on april 5. he was loosing his sight and hearing and his kidneys were shutting down. that meant lots of peepee to clean up. we didn't mind though. he is over the rainbow bridge with our other 2 dogs, hollie and sasha. we know he is happy to see them and having a wonderful healthful life there. i miss him very much. i still have my human's grandson to keep me active though... maybe one day they will get me another friend. i know it will take them some time because they loved fitz so very much.

New Baby

It has been a fun winter so far, Jen, our moms daughter, had something called a baby!! Fitz can't figure out what all the comotion is when he cries. He just starts barking. He is very cute, but does get loud when he cried sometimes. Guess when he gets bigger and we can chase him, it will be more fun(woofwoof) He does let us give him a couple of kisses though(at least his mom lets us). Mom has been spending so much time with him, that we miss her when she is at his house. We know she is trying to help, cus being a first time mom isn't easy. She remembers, even harder when she had something called "twins". Thank goodness they are all grown up now. When she gets home though, its all hugs, kisses and treats for me and Fitz. We can't go with her cus their dog is kind of hyper and we don't like that. We like things quiet, with other animals. Guess we are just getting older. Do any of you have "babies " at your house? Maybe you can help us to know what you do with them. Thanks, Maye and Fitz.

Christmas Time

Well, here it is just 2 weeks before Christmas. Mom is getting everything ready. She really likes this time of year. It's ok for us, we just hate all the stuff in the living room and on "our" couch. Guess we have to sleep on the one in the rec room. Me and Fitz love everyones holiday picture. It's funny how humans like to dress us up.

Well, Fitz and I, and of course Mom, wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.

Here are the rules we were told to obey.......Enjoy

Dog's Rules For Christmas

1. Be especially patient with your humans during this time. They may
appear to be more stressed-out than usual and they will appreciate
long comforting dog cuddles.

2. They may come home with large bags of things they call gifts. Do
not assume that all the gifts are yours.

3. Be tolerant if your humans put decorations on you. They seem to
get some special kind of pleasure out of seeing how you look with
fake antlers.

4. They may bring a large tree into the house and set it up in a
prominent place and cover it with lights and decorations. Bizarre as
this may seem to you, it is an important ritual for your humans, so
there are some things you need to know: Don't pee on the tree...
Don't drink water in the container that holds the tree... Mind your
tail when you are near the tree... If there are packages under the
tree, even ones that smell interesting or that have your name on
them, don't rip them open... And Don't chew on the cord that runs
from the funny-looking hole in the wall to the tree.

5. Your humans may occasionally invite lots of strangers to come
visit during this season. These parties can be lots of fun, but they
also call for some discretion on your part: Not all strangers
appreciate kisses and cleans. Don't eat off the buffet table. Beg for
goodies subtly. Be pleasant, even if unknowing strangers sit on your
spot on the sofa -- they don't know any better. Don't drink out of
glasses that are left within your reach unless you can get away with
it...

6. Likewise, your humans may take you visiting. Here your manners
will also be important: Observe all the rules in #4 for trees that
may be in other people's houses. (4a is particularly important)
Respect the territory of other animals that may live in the house. Be
nice to the kiddies. Turn on your charm big time.

7. A big man with a white beard and a very loud laugh may emerge from
your fireplace in the middle of the night. DO NOT BITE HIM!!!

Cold days

Well here it is the day after Thanksgiving. Hope everyone had a great day. Mom gave me and Fitz a little from the table, but not much. She has me on a diet.

Hope you got to see Fitz and my holiday picture. I like to get dressed up, Fitz doesn't too much. It was fun though. We will probably go see Santa too and get our pics taken with him.

Really cold these days, mom puts our coats on us a lot now. Before you know it, there will be snow. Yeah!!! Lots of white stuff to eat and play in then mom has to get the snow balls off our fur. We got boots this year, so maybe it won't be too bad.

Hope everyone is doing great. Drop us a line sometime.

Fall Leaves

This weekend we helped mom and dad do the leaves in the back yard(haha), we just kept jumping in them and looking for our tennis balls. It was lots of fun. Fitz doesn't play too much, but he was with me outside. The leaves really look pretty now, but not too much longer and they will be all gone. More work for mom and dad, I know how much they love doing leaves. Glad I can just play in them. Hope everyone has a nice fall.

Mom put new pics up of us in the leaves, looking nice and having my morning mouthful of coffee. Sure do like it, but I really hate waiting til mom is nearly done for me to have my sip. No sugar added though and decaf.

October

Well, here it is October, the leaves are starting to fall and the cool air is coming in. Not big on the cool air, but I love to run in the leaves. Mom hates it, because they always get stuck in my feathers. I like to make her have to clean me up before we go back inside. Before you know it, it will be Halloween, not my favorite. All those scarey faces at my door, and banging. Me and Fitz, just go crazy with all that noise. Some of the kids are very nice though. Mom always has lots of candy for them. We can't eat any though, (sniff sniff) but we do try. Hope you all have a great Halloween.

How I came to my mom

My mom works at a vet hospital. One of her clients had 7 puppies, 2 black and the rest buff. They sold all of them but me. They were going to keep me for themself. Well, kids were going to college and grandpa was sick, so they just couldn't handle a puppy. She came over to my moms work and said she would just give me to her. My mom was kind of scared, she already had two dogs and didn't know how they would take to a bouncy puppy. Well, she took me home, and I fit right in. Fitz the shihtzu didn't really like me much, hes older, but he is my friend now. Holli was the big dog, golden/collie mix, we hit it off, she was my best pal.. We would run in the back yard and play teeth in the house. We really had fun. She got really sick and went to the Rainbow Bridge a year ago. I sure miss her, and don't want any other new dogs. Fitz and I do play some now. We both get a little lonely. I was really lucky to find such a great home.

My mom worked with me a lot training, and then we went to obeidence class when I was 7 mos old. I got my CGC, I did pretty good. Then about a year later I got my TDI(therapy dog international.) I get to go to nursing homes and assisted living homes. Soon we will be able to go to the hospital. I enjoy visiting everyone, although those lunch carts sure make a lot of noise. Sometimes they scare me, but after a few trips I am used to it again.

I am now 4 years old. I go to work everyday with my mom since I was 12 weeks old. It's lots of fun. My friend Molly (yellow lab) is there with her mom every day too. We have lots of fun. She is just a couple of months younger than me. She is a champion in agility and field, and has a bunch of ribbons.

Mom will be retiring in December, because she is going to be a grandmom and wants to help. I will miss Molly, but her mom promises she will bring her over to play.

Well, thats about it for now.
