Likes:
I love shoes, socks, cats, cat food, kong toys, bully sticks, bones, liver and salmon treats, peanut butter, bananas, yogurt, pumpkin and CHEESE!!! I also LOVE swimming at the lake.
Pet-Peeves:
I hate having my nails trimmed, I don't know why mom doesn't just leave my paws alone and brush my teeth some more, that toothpaste sure tastes good!
Favorite Toy:
I really like my tennis ball and rope monster, he plays with me and makes a good pillow. I also like my purple sqeaky toy, and my orange sqeaky ball ... oooh and food bowls! They're the best! Oh, and I just love my Noy's squeaky pig and cat toys!
Favorite Food:
Anything that will fit in my mouth ... and I mean anthing!
Favorite Walk:
By the river front, where ever there are lots of people who want to pet me, especially kids, I love kids.
Best Tricks:
Pretending I have to go potty when I really just want to run around outside and roll in the dirt. I've also learned "come", "sit" and "down". They all mean I get lots and lots of treats! Stealing anything that isn't tied down. Jumping out of my pen.
Arrival Story:
We had been talking about getting a dog for several months, we researched breeds, debated whether we should get a puppy or an adult and finally decided that our cats would probably accept a puppy more readily than an adult. So we started stocking up on puppy supplies and making appointments to visit some breeders. There were two puppies left in Indy's litter, a boy and a girl. We met the parents, who were both well mannered and calm, but friendly, then we met the puppies, Indy made a beeline for me, like all puppies he loved being petted and held, but wasn't afraid to run around and explore on his own, and of course we did the same thing that every person who goes to look a litter of puppies makes, we fell in love immediately. Indy had even been raised with two orange cats that looked very much like our own, everything just felt right.
When we brough Indy home, we had about an hour drive, during which time, he alternated between wimpering and burrying his head under my arm, sleeping peacefully and puking in my coat pocket ... in hind sight, giving him that peanut butter treat before getting in the car was not such a great idea :)
The first few nights were typical, he wimpered, whined, slept, peed and pooped a lot. We also found out that he's really a chimpanzee. I kid you not, he made sounds exactly like a monkey, if I hadn't seen it coming out of a puppy, I wouldn't have believed it. Unfortunately he doesn't do this as much now that he's older. I say unfortunately because it was very entertaining, and now no one believes me! :) He was quickly put in his place by the boss of the house, our five year old male tabby cat, Midir.
It took us a few days to name him, but finally decided to name him after my favorite adventuring archaeologist, Indiana Jones, who himself was named for the family dog :)
The following week was Halloween, which meant that Indy got to meet every child in the neighborhood, all the little demons, angels and superheroes, and he loved each one equally :)
Bio:
I'm friendly and outgoing and I just about die of happiness any time someone pets me, and I pout when they leave me. I'm also mischievious, I like to steal things like socks, shoes, styrofoam cups, remote controls, glasses, really anything that I can get my teeth on, especially if I think some one might chase me to get it back. I can sniff out and dig up all of the black walnuts that the squirrels have so methodically burried in the yard. I don't much care for the squirrels though, they're a little intimidating with their big fluffy tails, they look like that big mean cat that bosses me around. Birds are pretty, I like to sit down and watch them. Bunnies aren't interesting at all. My mom says I'm not much of a hunting dog, but that that's ok, my toys are way more fun to chase.
I do like to be naughty though, my mom says we are "working" on some of the naughty things I like to do, like nipping and tugging, jumping up, chewing and pulling things off the kitchen counter, but you'll be happy to know that I'm doing my very best to resist "working" on these things! ... Unless there's food involved, then I'll do whatever I think people want. I'll sit and if that doesn't work, I'll lay down, usually that works.
I'm learning how to walk on the treadmill because it's winter here and we can't always go outside for walks, which is a pity cause I LOVE the SNOW!!! But I love the treadmill too ... it dispenses string cheese just for walking! Can you believe it? I wish they'd let me walk on it more, I could eat cheese all day.
I went to puppy kindergarten before Christmas. It was so much fun. I got to play with lots of other puppies. Most of them beat up on me, or that's what the people thought until they found me out. I like to go tackle another puppy then run and hide behind a person while they get shooed away for picking on me, it's tons of fun! My mom says school is over, but I still get excited every time I see the car. She said something about a dog park when I get a little older, that sounds so cool, I can hardly wait!
