My Busy Summer!

Yeah, so I'm a little late updating on my fun summer. I had a hard time getting mom to type this for me. Just can't get good help anymore.

Anyways, it was a great, fun summer! Early in the season, the folks took me to a Pug Party at my good friend, Giz's house! She's a sweet puggie girl and she was having a get together with her Puggie Pals. She invited me cause they needed someone to be the life of the party, so I went as a pug in disguise as a pomeranian. No one noticed! It was a fun, raucous time!

We camped a bit, which is always a great time for me. I get to explore, sniff, wander and protect! I love sitting with the folks in the shade, and snuggling by the campfire at night! Plus, they are MINE...no TV or computer to take their attention away from ME! Yeah, camping is great!

My furless sister got a puppy. His name is Solo. He is a pest. He always gets right in my face, and I hate that. He also eats all my food, drinks my water, plays with MY toys, is plain klutzy and just causes general disruption in my life. I choose to hide under the couch anytime he is in my house. He is too big to get under there, so I can growl and bark at him from the safety of my little haven. I guess if he wouldn't get in my face all the time, he wouldn't be too bad, but we'll see how that goes!

The folks took me to the end of the season Doggie Swim at the local pool! I went last year, too, and had a blast! It was a great time again this year! The folks were interviewed by the local newspaper and it was published! Of course they only talked about me! I'm famous! I was an excellent swimmer as usual. I had to snort at those big dogs that were too afraid to go in the water! I want mom to make a video of my swimming skills, so she's working on it!

It was a great summer, now its time for fall. Its cooler outside, and with my thick fur coat, I don't mind that at all! Bring it on!

Happy Father's Day, Daddy!

Dear Daddy,

You are such a good daddy and I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you!

You are very kind to me. You always make sure I'm warm when its cold. You always walk with me when I want to go exploring the yard. You point out a bird in the yard, in case I didn't see it. You pet me and call me a good boy when I chase the birds away. You take me for walks in the woods where there's lots of things for me to smell. You make sure to dry off my paws and pick off any burrs that might be stuck in my fur. You give me baths when I'm dirty, even though I don't like that, but you cuddle me in a towel until I'm warm and dry again. You clean my ears and make sure they aren't infected. You worry when I don't feel well, and you hold me cause you're worried.

You always make sure my harness isn't too tight and that I'm strapped in my seat belt in the car. You take me for rides, even just around the block cause you know I like it. You take me other places too, like swimming, camping, parties and to the park. You put your shirt on the floor so I can sleep on it and smell you when you're not home. You hold me when your napping so I can nap, too.

You like to play with me, for a long time, too. You like to hide my Bobo behind your back and let me jump on you to try to get it. You will throw my ball again and again. You don't mind if I bark when we are playing, you even encourage me to bark. You like to wrestle with me, and you keep doing it again and again even if I always win.

You let me give you lots and lots of kisses. I give them to you because you are a special Daddy and I love you very much.

Happy Father's Day, Daddy!

Vacation!

I just love when the weather gets warmer. It means vacation time! I just got back from my vacation and it was great! I took my pawrents camping for a week. I love camping because I can spend lots of time outside sniffing everything and everywhere!

There was no one else around, so I spent a lot of time offleash at the campsite. Do you know how many things you can smell underneath a camper?! Do you know how dirty and cobwebby it is under there? Isn't it great?! One of my favorite pasttimes!

Being free also helps when it comes to yard patrol. I love chasing birds out of my area. They love it too, because they keep coming back for more! I also chased a butterfly, but it was really hard, because the darn thing wouldn't fly in a straight line. How's a guy supposed to chase something like that?

I love walking around the campground too, even if it is on the leash. I won't walk on the leash at home, but the campground is different and fun. We go by the river and the pond where there are lots more things to sniff and see. My folks won't let me offleash by the pond because of the "Swamp Thing" episode of May 2008. They're always trying to take away my fun!

Anyway, vacation is over and we're back to the day to day grind. I miss having the folks with me all day. I'm deprived of all my play time, petting time, walking time, snuggling time and just all around ME time! When is the next vacation?!

Enjoying My Busy Summer!

This summer has been full of new adventures and experiences, topped with lots of fun! A few weeks ago I went to the Second Annual Ohio Friendly Dogs Get Together, where I met up with my pal Gizmo and my new pal Charlie. It was great, cause Gizmo and Charlie are both lovely ladies, so I was the lucky guy pup! It was at Alum Creek Dog Park, a wonderful facility with corral areas for pups to run off leash. There was a smaller doggie corral for pups 25 lbs or less, so that's where we were hanging out. There is also a corral by the lake shoreline, so pups could swim off leash, too. I was brave and took a dip up to my tummy, Charlie got her paws wet, too, but Giz preferred keeping her fur dry! It was a great day, a great park and an all around fun time!

Last weekend, the local pool held a "Doggie Swim", with donations going to the neighboring animal shelter. The pool was drained down below the steps, so it was easy for pups to walk into the water. I was a bit nervous at first, but it was a really warm day, so what the heck. I took it slow but steady and before you know it, I was swimming like a fish! It was great fun!

Dad thought I was afraid, cause there were lots of big dogs, so he took me out. Mom thought different, she asked me if I wanted to go back in. I walked to the side of the pool, looked in, then headed right for the steps into the pool! I was ready for round 2!

I had 3 great swim attempts and it was way fun. But at one point, another dog, a puppy, but a big dog, must have thought I was a water toy, because he knocked into me, then started jumping on me, pushing me underwater. I was snapping at him like a pirhana, trying to get him off me. Dad finally got me out of the water and away from the pup. I didn't cough or choke, because I was smart and held my breath. Anyway, that was the end of my fun, cause the folks took me out of the pool after that.

I didn't care, though, because I had such a good time swimming! I was getting good at it too, so now I can't wait to try it again! I just love summer, don't you?!

Swampthing!

So, there I was walking along by the fishing pond. Mom says its more of a swamp because of all the lily pads and muck, but whatever. Mom had let me off the leash because there was no one else around and I felt so free and happy.

It was so cool because as I would walk along the shoreline, frogs would get scared and jump into the water, squealing as they went back into the pond to hide.

I'm not sure what possessed me, but I had to do it...I jumped into the swamp! It was great, there I was dog-paddling along in the mud & muck, all the way up to my harness in green soupy water!

Well, as with all good things, it didn't last long. The folks were freaking out, and called me back to land. I was covered from toe to chest with mud! It felt fantastic and I was feeling really free, so I started running around like a wild beast in the field nearby. I even chased a few birds just to let them know who was boss!

Then I was punished by being dumped in the tub and soaped up and hosed off. It was like torture, but it was worth it! I would jump back into that swamp in a heartbeat!

What Next?

I'm not sure what is happening to me. First all that weird stuff earlier this month hasn't changed. Now just the other day, I was having a hard time doing a good squirt. What is up with that? I kept trying & trying, but only a drop or two would come out.

The next day, something fun & unusual happened. Mom was getting ready for work & asked me if I wanted to come along. I was ready! I let her put my harness on & off we went! But what the heck, I remembered that place. It was the same place she took me earlier this month. I was nervous. They are really nice to me, but hey, they stick needles in me & put me on a scale & stick things in my ears & snout. And this time, they stuck a tube somewhere that shouldn't even be permitted! They took pictures of my backside & I remember something about stones. I didn't eat any stones, so I have no idea what they were talking about. But it ended great, cause I was finally able to go...whew! Then they took all sorts of pictures & let mom take me home.

The next day, she asked me if I wanted to go for a ride. There was no way I was going in the car again...she fooled me once! But she wasn't having it, she made me go again. Guess where...the same place. This time, they took me in the back and made me fall asleep. When I woke up, I was groggy & sore, but boy, I didn't feel all blocked up anymore. Plus all the folks were so nice there. Everyone kept holding me & telling me I was a good boy. I felt pampered. But I had to stay the night. Where was mom? Why didn't she take me home? Why did she leave me in this torture chamber?

The next day, dad came to get me. Boy was I glad to see him!! And he took me for a ride...to HOME! Wow, that was great! I watered the bushes before heading inside. That was nice, no pain, no struggle, just ahhhh! Well mom was in there waiting for me. She was acting all happy to see me & nice & trying to pet me. No way, not this guy...I was so mad at her for leaving me at that nightmare place. I turned my face from her & wouldn't look at her or kiss her. She even tried to play with me by patting her hands on the ground at me. I pranced towards her like I always do, then I remembered I was mad at her & I turned away. That'll show her not to take me back there again.

I eventually forgave her, but only cause she was eating & I had to give her puppy dog eyes so I could get some!

Nothing New to Report...

There's nothing new to report on my problem...well, nothing good. Now my back left paw is turning inwards like I'm pigeon-toed. It makes it easier for me to fall when I turn too quickly. Plus, I'm holding it very stiff when I walk, like a peg-leg.

Mom says its still good that I'm as playful as ever. She says I still seem happy. And I still eat like I haven't had food in a year. A technique I've perfected to garner sympathy. It works great too, cause they are thinking, "Poor starving, little dog, here have some of my steak" or "Have a treat before you wither away, poor darling". Ha, these foolish humans have fallen victim to my plot to conquer the refrigerator, one bite at a time!

Anyways, back to my point...I'll update if there are any more changes. I'm just taking one paw at a time.

What's Wrong With Me?

All of a sudden, I'm acting strange. I started walking with a left-sided curve to my body. I'm sporting a drastic lean to the left. I've lost my balance a few times & stumbled. I'm walking in left-turning circles sometimes. I'm panicking when I get picked up & I don't want to walk down steps. Now I won't eat from my food bowl, but eating from the floor seems okay. I've never been a very vocal pup, but now I'm making a lot of grunting & wimpering noises.

I had to go to the vet for a check up & xrays, but she shook her head & said she doesn't know what's wrong with me without an expensive test. Now everyone is hoping that I get better soon.

I don't think I'm in any pain, which is a good thing. At least I'm still playful & I'm happy. Mom thinks those are good signs.

Just call me Lefty. Till next time.

Its Been A Year!

Its been just over a year now since I moved into my new furever home! I've definately made myself a permanent fixture here. These people needed me!

I have this really nifty perch that I can watch out the window in case there is any action going on. I usually find something to growl or back at, too, even if there's nothing there! All the neighbors know that I'm standing guard, so they are careful not to get too close...even if I am about 15 feet away! They should be afraid!

I have loads of really fun toys to play with. I have an assortment of loofah dogs, Cuz squeaky balls, chewies, pretty much anything a pampered pup needs. I have great treats, too. Rawhide chews, Milkbones, steak & cheese treats, plus a few samplings from fallen crumbs. Its like a buffet!

I get to keep my family warm at night, too. I'm sort of a bed hog, even though I only weigh 7 lbs. I manage to push my way right to the middle & crowd out the humans. It is MY bed, after all...they should move out of my way. I'm really charming, too, cause I snore really loud!

Anyway, this is a great place to be & I'm glad I've taken over their lives. The world revolves around me & it doesn't get any better than this! Being adopted rocks!!

Howloween!

Yes, its that time of year again! The leaves are falling, the air is brisk & its getting dark earlier. I know what this means...Howloween! Last year I was too new in my furever home & too scared of the little ghouls & goblins that came begging for candy, but this year, I'm ready for some fun times! I've even decided on a costume! Well, actually, I'm torn between two ideas. One is a guard dog, the other is a Doberman. I know I can pull it off! No one will know its me, that's for sure!

Have fun Everypuppy! No chocolate!
