Arrival Story:
He was 41/2 months old and locked up in a barn where his breeder lived in Red Deer and he shared the barn with a rooster. He has a life long neurotic fear of roosters crowing. People came and went and no one wanted him. I was working in a grooming salon at the time and had just lost my dog. It was really hard to come home to an empty dogless house every night and I had known from working in the salon that I had wanted a Shih Tzu so when I saw the ad in the paper and heard that no one wanted him because he had a severe overbite and needed dental surgery. He was deemed 'imperfect' by everyone that came to see him. I took him sight unseen and he's been my sweet, perfect little freak ever since! I can't imagine what would have happened to him if I hadn't taken him, he was already socially backward and didn't want to be held or kissed. He slowly came around but he's always been a loner who keeps to himself. Cuddling is always on his terms and I take it when I get it. Oh, and he did have dental surgery and he's absolutely perfect in my eyes.
Bio:
He was never much of a cuddler so I got him a younger brother a year later and when he realized there was competition, he did become slightly more social. He's a real character! Whenever he shakes his head, he falls over and can't get up. And god forbid you're late with his timbits. His younger brother Brandy is actually his uncle. Poe's grandfather is Brandy's father but they are like day and night in personality.
Poe passed away on January 18, 2008. Rest in peace sweetie, we will always love you and miss you.
