Balto's Journal: A Day In The LIfe Of A Service Dog

Balto barely survived a recent bacterial infection in his (cant remember what it was called) and it was caused by a disease. All possible diseases were blood screened for and narrowed down to nothing!?!? Even the vet wasn't able to figure it out. The odds were against him, people whom never met him via Facebook friends and didn't really know him were condemning him to death aka be put down, even the local vets in the area that were not his primary vet just because of his age and only that. I NEVER gave up on him and stood my ground about it and he in return did the same. The vet still feels he has a great quality of life to him and I am totally in agreement. The unfortunate part was that it was contagious and it spread to Lady Lucke 2 and North Star 2 (SDit) and my mom's chiweenie, snickers. It was very much touch n go for a while there w/ 4 dogs in quarantine at the house. North Star only got a touch of it and Lady took a bit longer and so did Snickers. Balto is usually slow to recover anyway but this time he barely pulled thru. My mom doesn't know what it was that I did but, obviously Balto has made it very clear ,he is not ready to go to heaven just yet. Once he fully did make a good recovery, he went into his 2nd puppy hood and played with his plushy squeakie, which he has not done this in over 5 years now. He also has been recently diagnosed this past summer w/ Advanced Age Related Nuclear Sclerosis of the eyes and Advanced Doggy Alzheimers. So we are dealing w/ most days of 2nd puppy hood adventures and others occasionally ditzball forgetfulness aka Alzheimers.

I fell down the stairs at the county court house on march 28th and I am no longer legally a "baker-zimmer" thru mama's marriage to a bad man. I also dont know what I was doing on march 31st during grocery shopping with mama and aunti. Mama said I was doing things I normally dont do when I have a seizure but, the vet says its time. Mama has a layaway payment with my dr doghealth to get me special "geriatric" bld test so mama have me on stupid pills. I wont take those things, nor keep em down no matter how mama does it. yes, I am a stink pot and they make me help mama save my life. I'd rather die that take them pills when I get them. :P

(This is balto's mama. My vet and I r thinking about other methods like eye drops or a type of vaccine to get him his life saving medicine, maybe even an eatible pill w/o all of his food allergies.)
