oh boy oh boy oh boy

I got to go swimming yesterday! And, I don't mean what I normally mean. Normally this means that we walk to the river, and I get to wade up to my knees while daddy holds my much too short leash. Noooo, not yesterday. Yesterday daddy brought a special leash that was 12 feet long. I got to go in over my head!! I was doggy paddling and splashing and I even snorkled a bit. The only part of me that wasn't wet afterwards was the top of my snout and my eyelids. IT WAS GREAT!!!!!!!! Oh, summer is a wonderful time!

Sniff. Sniff. Sniff.

I was sooo happy last week, but now it's all ruined. We'd gotten a new sister - her name was Oreo. I *loved* Oreo. We were perfect together. She liked to cuddle and be lazy - just like ME. we would sleep together in the crate, and I shared my blankie with her (and she didn't try to take it all or to shred it, she just shared it). We would give each other kisses and we loved being together. I was soooo happy.

Then, on MOnday, she left. Mommy tried to explain that she had been a foster sister and that she got "adopted" and now she has her own furever home and I should be happy, but I MISS OREO!!. Goldie is nice, but she's just not my Oreo...

what a day!

Ok, my brother Othello said this better than I ever could, but wow, yesterday was a great day! If only mommy and daddy had been home from work - then it would have been absolutely perfect!

A recap of yesterday:
First, mommy played with us in the morning before she went to work. ahhhhh

Then, daddy got home from work and gave us some turkey from the fridge - YUM!!

Then he went to the store and came back and was doing weird stuff in the back of his truck. Othello and I were confused, but Bo seemed to know what was up. He got REAL excited when he saw what daddy was doing - and just started blathering on about a ride a ride a ride a ride! But, we ride in the car, so what does the truck have to do with it?

Then daddy got us harnassed up and took us for a really short walk - why the bother if we're just going around the block?!?!? But Bo (the biggest walker in the family) didn't seem to mind, so Thelli and I decided not to protest too loudly. Besides, mommy should be home any minute now, so we wanted to be home for her!

So, back to the house, but we didn't go in the house, we went to the pickup truck. And Bo hopped right up into the back - oh no, Thelli and I aren't about to do that. There's this weird chain across it, but Bo's saying "c'mon c'mon!", so with a bit of prodding from daddy, we finally got up in there... And daddy hooked our harnesses to that chain -- HEY, what do you mean by chaining us to a truck?!?!?

Then we saw mommy's car coming home. OOoh, mommy will protect us and save us! But she just petted our heads and told daddy she was ready to go.

At first, it was the wierdest thing. The truck started rumbling, and Bo just went ballistic. And then with a couple of shudders the truck started to move. After about 15 minutes, it was the greatest thing we'd ever experienced! There was wind and smells and we could stand up and move a few feet (couldn't get our paws on the sides of the truck though, darn it! if only that chain wasn't holding us back. grr). And daddy took us down a gravel road and it was just fantastic!

The ride seemed wayyy too short, then we were back home, and went to the back yard. But, then daddy appeared with PORK. yes, you heard me right, PORK. Big chunks of pork tenderloin. YUM!!!!! YUM!!! YUM!!!!!!!!!!

After that, we got to cuddle up with mommy and watch the dog whisperer until we fell asleep. Then it was off to bed time. Ahhhhhh, a perfect day...

What am I?

Yesterday, Bo, Othello, and I knew the day was going to be a bad day. It started with mommy and daddy bringing us inside, where we saw two wet kitties hissing on the ottoman and the couch. Oh no! It's BATH DAY!!!!. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

But, no matter how we tried, it was bath day for us too. At least mommy spoiled us with chicken jerky treats after we suffered through our baths. But I got sooooooo cold. Mommy wrapped me in a blanket and Bo laid on me, but I was still shivering on the couch. Daddy thought I was faking it a little bit (shhhh, don't tell him that I just like how mommy cuddles me when she thinks I'm really cold).

Then, it was time to get into our harnesses. Hey, wait - going for a walk when it's freezing out and we're still wet?! that's not fair! But, the walk was just to the driveway to get into a car. hmmm, where oh where could we be going...

Mommy brought the blanket and wrapped me in it once I was buckled into the back seat. Then I talked Bo into laying down on top of me. So soon, I was nice and toasty warm. Ahhhhh. And we drove and drove and drove. Then Bo's head perked up. Woof he said - I know where we are. We were at Petsmart! Yay!!

First we went inside and met a few doggies on our way through the door. Then to the kitty area to get a new collar for our sissy. Then, yum!! The food aisle. and it was wonderful. We got to watch daddy put three HUGE bags of nummy food into the cart (while grumbling about how 120 pounds of food really should last us for at least 3 weeks, right?!). Mommy picked up some cans of special food with noises about Bo's birthday coming up. Then they discussed whether or not we'd be willing to eat a new form of biscuit treats. We all sat and wagged our tails to make sure they understood that yes, of COURSE we would eat any treats that they wanted to buy us!

Then we made it to the last aisle. Oh oh oh oh oh -- lookee. It's adoption day! There were puppies EVERYWHERE back there. Bo's foster mommy was there and he was soooo excited. and people kept petting us and saying how cute I was. and then we were standing by the puppies Bo's foster mommy had brought to try to find homes for, when daddy said to mommy - hey, look over there, doesn't that look just like our Falstaff?

There was a whole litter of like 9 puppies with speckling just like ME!! they were a lot tinier than me (they had terrier in them and were only a few weeks old), but some were white with just big black splotches like I had as a little pup and others were white with big black splotches and hte tiny gray-black spots just like me!!

Mommy went over to talk to the woman with them. And she was pointing at me and pointing at the puppies and talking and chatting and when she came back, she told daddy that the lady said they were Blue Heeler puppies. And the one lady close to me said "oh yeah, you have a blue heeler mix there" while she was pointing at me. So the mystery may finally be solved. We think we know what I am. I'm a black lab/rottie/blue heeler/something or other mix!

It's been a long time since I wrote last - sorry!! Let's see, what all happened. Well, we went back to Granny and Papaw's for Christmas, and this time there was another doggie there! Jasper and Sassy Blossom were there, but so was Maggie, our cousin. She was just the same size as Othello. She was kept locked up the first few days we were there (something about a vet and coughing), but she was finally allowed out to play and we had so much fun.

I think she had a crush on Bo though. She kept kissing him. He didn't seem to mind it much though. sigh.

Since we've been back home, all it's done is to rain. and rain and rain and rain. We went down to the river yesterday and the waves were HUGE and the water was so hi. Mommy and daddy showed us where there were entire trees floating by.

Um, what else. Oh, we grew a bit. Well, Bo didn't - he's still the same size as in my last post. But, I now weigh more than him -- I weighed in at 46 pounds a few days ago. Soon I'll be changing my profile to show that I'm a big doggie!! And, Othello is just getting HUGE. He's almost 70 pounds as of Saturday. geeeeez. But, we're looking forward to next week - we'll finally be 5 months old! Yay! Ok, I guess that's all I can think of. Time to go back outside and watch the puddles grow in the back yard - and to know that this time I'm not the one making them. :)

Thanksgiving

Wow - I think I like this whole thanksgiving notion! We just got back from the big trip to Granny and Papaw's for the holidays. Not so sure about car rides, but it was GREAT to play with Jasper and Sassy Blossom for 5 days!! I'm finally getting the hang of this whole being indoors deal - I only pooped one time on the floor at Granny's (and only peed twice!). Hopefully at Christmas time I won't pee or poop at all.

We had a great time wrestling inside and outside every day. The bigger pups seemed to finally get the hint that Othello and I needed a bit more sleep than the rest of them, and Auntie Sara was more than willing to let us cuddle up on her lap. Everyone seemed amazed at how big we were -- we turned 3 months old the day we got there, and that day I weighed 25 pounds, Othello was 35 pounds, and Bo (who's almost 9 months) was 45-50 pounds. There was a lot of talk about how big our paws were -- and a lot of treats to feed those growing bellies! (Hey, I don't care if they say my belly is growing if they're also giving me treats at the same time!!)

We slept a lot in the car today, but boy were we glad to get back home. We've been racing all around our backyard since the moment we got home. Mommy and Daddy tried hard to take good care of us, and we loved playing with the other doggies and all the attention, but there's no place quite so nice as at home. Hmm, I wonder if Jasper and Sassy Blossom could come and visit us here? Well, Bo, Othello, Xander, and Baby are all clamoring for their turn, so I'd better get going. Bye!!

Hi!

I'll be honest - this entry will make a lot more sense if you read Othello's diary, because Baby (big sis the kitty) is refusing to re-type the whole story. But, I'm allowed to do a one paragraph summary of what he said...

Last thursday, Othello and I got to meet Bo for the first time at the house of a foster lady for our shelter. We all had lots of fun playing together. And, to make it better, at the end, Bo's mommy and daddy became OUR mommy and daddy! Yay! We really liked the lady and the guy, and even better, we got to stay together for ever!!

Ok, I'm supposed to pick up the story from when we got into the car to head home. So, we rode for forever in the car, but Bo was looking out for us the whole way home. But, we stopped at a store that let us go in with mommy and daddy. We weren't so sure about this, until everyone in the store started petting us and giving us treats to eat and we got new toys and new collars (we'd never had a collar before, still getting used to that part) and new leashes to go with the collar and and and and ... And Bo was soo worried about us - he never left us the whole time.

Then we went back to Bo's home, and he made sure we knew it was now our home too! Daddy made us put on the collars (black with little bones on them - that was ok) and we got to play in the back yard a bit until we'd both peed. Then I found the food - yum!!! Lots and lots of food for us to eat and this huge bowl of water -- just waiting for us! We thought we were in heaven. Mommy and daddy kept telling us we didn't need to eat it all right them, but of course we did! We ate until our little bellies were H-U-G-E. Then in to the living room and a bit more romping. By this point, we were a bit snoozy. So, off to bed. What's this? we had always just slept outside on the ground with our mommy. But Bo showed us how to get into the crate and snuggled up with us and got us all ready for beddy-bye. Mommy and daddy went to sleep too.

Everything was going well until we realized that we had eaten a lot, and drank a lot of water, and, um, well - we needed to go POTTY!! It didn't matter that it was 2 am, we were desperate. How-oooooooh! Ok, daddy's up. He got us together and headed to the back door. Oops, Othello peed on the kitchen floor. But *I* held it til the back yard. He left us out there for about 1/2 an hour, then reappeared to let us back in. (little did he know that we had eaten more food and drunk more water during that time). Around 4 am - same problem. We had to GO! The first time, daddy and Bo were nice about it. This time, they were like - just go to the back yard and stay there thank you very much! So, we kinda got uncerimoniously dumped into the back yard and left there - with Bo - for the rest of the night.

Bo showed us the crate out there, so we snuggled in with him. At some point, one of us - won't say who - had to go poopies and didn't make it out of our room (we have this really cool room at the back of the house where our food, water, and crate is, but with the door to the backyard always open so that we can go in and out any time we want). But, daddy didn't get too mad about the poopie incident.

Since then, we've had a great time settling in at our new house. Ok, so we've peed and pooped on the floor in the living room more than once - they put out this little pad that's great to chew on, but that they seem to think we'll pee on. Yeah right. I learned that I fit just perfectly under the coffee table, and Bo and Othello have more problems following me there.

Oh, and we finally got weighed for the first time ever. Bo was 48 pounds (but he is almost 8 months old). Othello was 22 pounds. I was the littlest, but I still weighed in at 17 pounds at 9 weeks of age - so not all that shabby, right? Ok, Baby says her paws hurt from typing all of this, so I'd better sign off for now. Bark at you later!
