Pet-Peeves: when Bo or Falstaff steal his bone; anything that separates him from Falstaff, even if only for 2 minutes
Favorite Toy: his brothers Falstaff and Bo
Favorite Food: food - not so picky as long as it's food.
Favorite Walk: anywhere - so long as it's nice and far; about 4 miles roundtrip is ok, but then he wants to do it again
Best Tricks: sit and giving the saddest puppy dog eyes we've ever seen
Arrival Story: We had recently lost a puppy (Luke), and his brother (Bo) was very depressed. He liked being with mommy and daddy, but didn't like being an only-doggie. So we thought that getting him a playmate might help him get over his loss.
We looked online at the local shelters, for puppies that would have enough energy to keep up with Bo, and we found Othello. We contacted his foster mommy, and arranged to see the pups, and to bring Bo along to see how the pups got along. We found out that there was a littermate as well - Falstaff - who would be there waiting to play.
We got to the house, and Bo was a bit tentative on going in the door. When he saw the pups, his tail started twiching. But he still didn't know what we were doing. Then we walked him closer to the pups, and Othello reared up on his back legs and thumped Bo on the chest with his front paws. Bo's tail went nuts just a wagging as hard as it could. Oh - playmates! The pups played for about 90 minutes (there was another family there to see Othello, and we really worried that they would take him, since he was sooooo sweet.) But, in the end, it was time to leave. Bo's tail drooped at leaving his friends. Daddy took Bo to the car, then came back to help with the little ones. When we brought the pups out, Bo was sooo very happy. What, they're coming home with us! YAY!!!!!!!!!! He watched carefully over them the entire drive home, and then showed them the ropes once we got there.
Bio: Last night, we were doing a little training with Bo and liver treats, when Othello decided to come on over and check out what was happening. He decided that the liver treats smelled oh so good. It didn't take long at all until he had the whole "sit" deal figured out. :)
Othello's gotten a bit bigger in the past few weeks, and a bit more headstrong as well! He's shown a true "talent" for never hearing when you call his name, and for fading into the nighttime when you want to call him back inside after dark.
Oh my, I've been tagged. Now to sort out how to play:
This is what you have to do. Listen up because it’s different than usual.
You have to write a letter to Santa Paws with 5 requests in your diary.
Then you have to give whoever tagged you 5 bones or treats.
Then tag 5 more cats or dogs.
Dear Santa Paws: This Christmas I wish for the following things:
1. lots of peanut butter and bones to chew on
2. homes for all the kitties and doggies (and any other animals!) in shelters and in foster homes
3. extra time to play with mommy, daddy, and the skin pup
4. did I mention the peanut butter and bones?
5. the weather to warm back up so that I can lounge in my tub again!
I Christmas Tag the following fur-friends:
5. Jasper Petey
So this squally little thing has moved into our house.
Mommy went away for days and days and when she came back, she and daddy had this little bundle in their arms. It screams and cries. And it seems to always be hungry. Just always hungry. I've met him twice and I'm still not sure what to make of him. He seems ok though - I think I'll like him in the long run.
Ok, so we know that we are supposed to be happy puppies right now, but Falstaff , Bo, and I are SAD puppies today.
The day started off great! We got hugs and cuddles from daddy, and then were told we were going to Petsmart. Yippee!! So, all 4 of us (Falstaff + Bo + Oreo + me) got in the back of the pickup. Daddy has these chain contraptions that go from one bed rail to the other that our harnesses snap onto so we can't jump out (darn it), but it's still great to get into the pickup.
We got to Petsmart and ooooh, there were other doggies there, and one of the doggies was PIPER!! Yay!! We got to see him and catch up on what's been happening, and... But, they put Oreo into a crate near the front door with Piper and some of the other doggies. We didn't quite understand it. And all these people we didn't know kept coming up and petting her and talking about her. Piper claimed a spot on Mommy's lap and stayed there for HOURS. Bo, Falstaff, and I just got to wander the aisles with daddy and get lots of pets from the people in the store (and a couple of people snuck us some doggie treats too).
But, then they said "yay - Oreo got adopted!". We didn't understand what they meant, but they moved her crate (the people had to run some errands before they could come back to her) down closer to us. So, ok, that means more Oreo time with us. yay! But then, a little bit later mommy and daddy said it was time to head home. Ok, no problem - truck trip again! But but but - they didn't bring Oreo with us!!! Apparently adopted = no longer our sissy???????
We've been moping since we got home. We MISS our sissy! But mommy says that she really scoped out the people taking her. Oreo will have 3 furbrothers and sisters - a labbie mix and two yorkies. She also gets a 5 year-old boy to play with all the time. She gets to be an indoor doggie with people who were really excited about her personality and were trying to come up with a name that fit her (she still doesn't know to come to Oreo so it's ok to change it). They have a fenced in back yard, and are used to taking their labbie on long walks every morning and evening. The people are hoping that Oreo likes laying on the couch - we thought that sounded like a good sign!
We might be getting a new foster brother or sister this evening. We considered giving Piper another try, but he got all snippy with Bo and Falstaff this afternoon. Mommy's doing better though, because he seemed so happy to see her, and in such a better mood after just getting to hang with her at the store for the whole morning.
